Congratulations!
All undergraduate and postgraduate students who complete the requirements for an award will graduate, either in
person or in absentia, in Sydney or at an off-campus ceremony. If you have a study location of Melbourne, ICMS,
Hong Kong or Beijing you will graduate at the next available ceremony in that location. If you have a study
location other than these you will graduate at one of the Sydney ceremonies.
The graduation schedule is available by visiting our website: www.graduation.mq.edu.au
Students graduating with an UNDERGRADUATE CERTIFICATE or POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE
Please note that your certificate will be awarded in absentia. Your testamur, Australian Higher Education
Graduation Statement, and academic transcripts will be mailed to you as soon as possible after the graduation
series has concluded. You must ensure your name, degree title and preferred mailing address details are
correct in eStudent. Change of address information should be entered online via eStudent
https://student1.mq.edu.au. If you would prefer to collect your certificate or have it sent by Special Delivery please
send an email to graduation@mq.edu.au
Students graduating with a BACHELOR, DIPLOMA, MASTER or DOCTORAL DEGREE
A Graduation Invitation will be emailed to all qualified students’ email addresses (except certificates) six weeks
prior to the graduation ceremony.
After you receive your email invitation package please go to your eStudent account
https://student1.mq.edu.au and carry out the following steps:
1. Click on “My Results and Graduation” - your final results will be visible here.
2. Click on “Check for Graduation” - the award you have qualified with will be displayed together with your
individual graduation ceremony location, date and time.
3. Check that the name of the award for which you have qualified is correct. This is particularly important if you
were expecting a professionally recognised degree such as the Bachelor of Commerce - Accounting (as
opposed to the generic Bachelor of Commerce) or the Bachelor of Arts - Psychology, (as opposed to the
generic Bachelor of Arts). If you have completed under the new curriculum, check that any
majors/specialisations are also correctly listed. Please direct any enquiries to the Academic Program Section
immediately at www.ask.mq.edu.au
4. Check that your name details are correct. If your name is incorrect please supply documentary evidence for
your change of name to the Graduation Unit, Level 3 Lincoln Building. You must submit certified photocopies
of official documentation with the desired name on it either in person or by post. Documents accepted include
passports and Birth, Marriage or Change of Name Certificates from the Registry of Births, Deaths &
Marriages. Documents cannot be faxed or emailed.
5.
Update your contact details by clicking on "My Details" located in the menu along the top. Click on "Contact
Details" located in the menu on the left. Make sure that you provide your non-student email and mobile as we
will send a confirmation email one week prior to graduation. Select "Add an email" then "Alumni(non MQ)
email" from the drop down menu and enter your non-student email address.
6. Your graduation status will remain on “HOLD” in eStudent until you have confirmed whether or not you will be
attending your graduation ceremony - please refer to the Graduation Invitation package.
NOTE: Students who are indebted to the University shall not be permitted to graduate until such debt is cleared.
Graduation allocation is subject to all debts being cleared prior to the series closing date. Students who pay after
the closing date will be allocated to the next available ceremony. Please ensure that you do not have any
outstanding debts.
