This dramatic dance, however, will not tell the illustrious history of Hui Ban, but instead the tale of ordinary theater people during a series of extraordinary events – about brotherhood, love, conflict, and turbulence faced by those living in a tumultuous time. At the end of Emperor Guangxu’s reign in the Qing Dynasty on a New Year’s Eve, the theater in Anqing City was crowded with audience members so intoxicated by the traditional Anhui Opera performance that they were lifted out of reality, forgetting momentarily about the troubles afflicting their own world. Wu Sheng and Hua Lian, sworn brothers and the leading actors in the troupe, though, were too impetuous. They offended Shi Ye, a local official, who rebuked them after the show. Later, in the backstage area, Wu Sheng and Hua Lian met Hui Nu, a young girl who is a devoted fan of Wu Sheng who had dressed as a man to be able to see the show. Together, the three drank happily, until Wu Sheng learned to his surprise that Hui Nu was a girl. A fire breaks out at the theater and ends their time together. After the fire, Wu Sheng and Hua Lian were driven out of the troupe. Wu Sheng was especially angry and hurt, and felt hopeless, but Hua Lian stood by his side and encouraged him to move on. A few years later, Wu Sheng and Hua Lian managed to build their own opera troupe, but the country’s political and social climate was more tense than ever. When the troupe visited Anqing City on tour, Wu Sheng and Hua Lian unexpectedly met Shi Ye, who was leading soldiers to arrest revolutionaries. They saved Hui Nu, who had joined the revolution. By this time, Wu Sheng could no longer hide his love for Hui Nu, and wanted to hide her from the authorities, but at the same time was afraid to lose his new troupe. The troupe argues because of differences of opinion among the members about the revolution, and the tensions even create a rift between Wu Sheng and the more supportive Hua Lian. Before long, the authorities learned that the troupe was hiding revolutionaries. Hui Nu and Hua Lian were arrested, and the troupe closed down. With his beloved and his dearest friend both in danger, fate had struck Wu Sheng harshly once again. To try to save his friends, Wu Sheng was forced to give up his dignity and had to act friendly with Shi Ye, even singing together with him. Meanwhile, Hua Lian helped Hui Nu to escape, but is wounded in the effort. He manages to sneak onto the back stage, to say farewell to his dear friend Wu Sheng. One night before a performance, Wu Sheng sits in front of the dresser preparing to take the stage, feeling that it will be a night he has awaited his entire life. This time, he will perform what is inside himself, without knowing how the end will turn out… 安徽歌剧院舞剧<<徽班>>相关报道和录像 https://www.google.com/#q=%E5%AE%89%E5%BE%BD%E6%AD%8C%E5%89%A7%E9%99%A2%E8%88%9E%E5%89%A7+%E5%BE%BD%E7%8F% AD&safe=active&tbm=vid
