baptizing each other in place of non-Mormons who are now dead.
Their belief is that in the afterlife, the "newly baptized" person will be
able to enter into a higher level of Mormon heaven.
V. Mormon Hell
~Eternal punishment is, thus, the kind of punishment imposed by God who
is Eternal, and those subject to it may suffer therefrom for either a short or a
long period. After their buffetings and trials cause them to repent, they are
freed from this type of eternal damnation. Mormon Doctrine p. 171
~ First, [hell] is the temporary abode in the spirit world for those who were
disobedient in mortality. In this sense, hell has an end. The spirits there will
be taught the gospel, and sometime following their repentance they will be
resurrected to a degree of glory of which they are worthy. Second, it is the
permanent location of those who are not redeemed by the atonement of
Jesus Christ. In this sense, hell is permanent. It is for those who are found
“filthy still”. This is the place where Satan, his angels, and the sons of
perdition—those who have denied the Son after the Father has revealed
him—will dwell eternally. Guide to the Scriptures, “Hell”
~Sons of perdition include (1) those who followed Satan and were cast out
of heaven for rebellion during premortality, and (2) those who were
permitted to be born to this world with physical bodies but then served
Satan and turned utterly against God. Guide to the Scriptures, “Sons of Perdition”
Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise
perish.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but
after this the judgment:
2 Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that
know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Revelation 20:14-15 And death and hell were cast into the lake of
fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in
the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Conclusion: Mormonism is not Christian nor is it biblical. Satan is
using Mormons to deceive multitudes. When they send their
young people around knocking on your door, do not take their
literature or agree to pray over the Book of Mormon. They are not
Christians. They are deceived. Pray for them. Witness to them,
but be careful. The Book of Mormon is their authority not the Bible
and unless you are walking with God and well prepared, they will
control the conversation and defeat your testimony.

A Biblical Church vs Mormonism
8 November 2013 PM – G alatians 1:8-9 – Biblical C hurch – Scott C hilds
Introduction: Those trained to spot counterfeit money know the
real thing so well that when they see a fake it is obvious to them.
As Christians, we ought to know Bible truth so well that when we
see error, it stands out as obviously fake.
From the view of Christianity, a cult distorts the doctrines that
affect salvation sufficiently to cause it to be unattainable. CARM For
example, the cult may deny that there is only ONE Triune God,
deny that Jesus is God, deny that salvation is by faith in Christ
alone, or deny that the Bible is God’s only revelation to mankind.
Cults often deny that the unsaved will go to a literal, eternal hell.
Cults usually follow the Bible interpretation of their prophet or
organization. (Read Galatians 1:8-9)
Transition: This evening we are going to compare the major
doctrines of Mormonism with the doctrines of the Bible so that you
can see why Mormonism is a cult. (Bible truth is in blue text)
I.
Brief History of Mormonism
On Sept. 21, 1823, when he [Joseph Smith] was 17 years
old, an angel called Moroni, who was supposed to be the son
of Mormon, the leader of the people called the Nephites who
had lived in the Americas, appeared to him and told him that
he had been chosen to translate the book of Mormon which
was compiled by Moroni's father around the 4th century. The
book was written on golden plates hidden near where Joseph
was then living in Palmyra, New York. Joseph Smith said that
on Sept. 22, 1827 he received the plates and the angel
Moroni instructed him to begin the translation process. The
translation was finally published in 1830 as the Book of
Mormon. http://carm.org/history-of-mormonism
The group was developed by Brigham Young who
migrated with the new Mormons to Salt Lake City in 1847.
Mormons call themselves “The Church of Jesus Christ of the
Latter Day Saints” (LDS).
II.
Mormon Scriptures
~"We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated
correctly. . ." (8th Article of Faith of the Mormon Church).
~The book of Mormon is more correct than the Bible, (History of the Church, 4:461).
~On their official website www.lds.org.au under Scriptures
they list, the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, Doctrines and
Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, and Study Helps.
III. Mormon God
A. God the father
~God used to be a man on another planet, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 321)
~"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and
sits enthroned in yonder heavens!!! . . . We have imagined that God
was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea and take away the veil,
so that you may see," (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345).
~There are many gods, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163).
~There is a mother god, (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 443).
~"The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's,"
(Doctrine and Covenants 130:22)
~The Trinity is three separate gods not one God in three Persons.
Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever
thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting
to everlasting, thou art God.
Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his
redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and
beside me there is no God.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must
worship him in spirit and in truth.
God was never a man. There is no god mother. The
trinity is one God in three Persons
B. Jesus
~The first spirit to be born in heaven was Jesus, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 129).
~Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers Mormon Doctrine, p. 163
~"Christ was not begotten of Holy Ghost ...Christ was begotten of
God. He was not born without the aid of Man, and that Man was God!"
(Doctrines of Salvation, by Joseph Fielding Smith, 1954, 1:18).
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day,
and for ever.
Matthew 1:20 ... for that which is conceived in her is of the
Holy Ghost.
C. You May Become a god
~After you become a good Mormon, you have the potential of
becoming a god, (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345-347, 354.)
IV. Mormon Salvation
A. Atonement
~[Jesus] prayed and suffered in Gethsemane for the sins of mankind.
Study Helps – Gethsemane
Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of
his cross, ...
~We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be
saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. Articles of
Faith 1:3
Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by
faith without the deeds of the law.
B. Grace
~"We know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do," (2
Nephi 25:23).
~"One of the most fallacious doctrines originated by Satan and
propounded by man is that man is saved alone by the grace of God;
that belief in Jesus Christ alone is all that is needed for salvation,"
(Miracle of Forgiveness, Spencer W. Kimball, p. 206).
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and
that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any
man should boast.
C. Gospel
~ The gospel of Jesus Christ was lost from the earth through the
apostasy that took place following the earthly ministry of Christ’s
Apostles. That apostasy made necessary the restoration of the gospel.
Through visions, the ministering of angels, and revelations to men on
the earth, God restored the gospel. The Restoration started with the
Prophet Joseph Smith and has continued to the present through the
work of the Lord’s living prophets. Restoration of the Gospel, GTS
~We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are:
first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third,
Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of
hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. Articles of Faith 1:4
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you
the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received,
and wherein ye stand; ... how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he
rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
D. Baptism
~Baptism for the dead, (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. II, p. 141). This is a practice of
