MITE 2012: Pre-Event Media Briefing by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Ong Hong Peng,
Secretary- General, Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia.
KUALA LUMPUR: The heat is building up towards the launch of the inaugural Malaysia
International Tourism Exchange (MITE) 2012. A pre-event media brief session was
chaired by YBhg Dato’ Dr. Ong Hong Peng, Secretary- General, Ministry of Tourism,
Malaysia and hosted by the organizer – My Events International represented by Mr.
Shahul Hameed Shaik Dawood, Group CEO. The media brief was also attended by
MITE 2012 prime partners, Malaysian Association and Hotels (MAH), Sunlight Taxi
Group and Airport Limo (M) Sdn Bhd. Event was held at Saloma Bistro, MATIC today.
The objective of this briefing session was to give media members a sneak preview of
MITE 2012 notably, 700 exhibition booths signed up, and trade players participating
from Cuba, India, China, ASEAN region, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia and
Malaysia. It is expected that a few memorandum of understanding (MOUs) would be
signed during MITE 2012, among which would be between Kenya and Malaysia on
Tourism business and intra regional tourism promotions between nations.
The other highlight would be 130 international hosted buyers participating in MITE 2012
travel exchange invited from 23 countries. There would be 30 hosted travel journalists
being invited to cover MITE 2012 and write on tourism in Malaysia. Besides this, various
outdoor and indoor activities would be carried out during MITE 2012. MITE 2012 is set
to bring visitors to experience first-hand, the wonders of global travel under one roof,
while having fun-filled family outing with the various exciting activities in place.
MITE 2012 is a home-grown tourism-based event organised by My Events International
and supported by Ministry of Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Convention & Exhibition
Bureau (MyCEB). This event is set to be an annual affair henceforth. Taking place at
Malaysia Agro-Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from 31st May till 3rd June, and
expects a turn-up of 600,000 visitors throughout the four-day event.
