BACKGROUND
Sponsored by the Government, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is the oldest and
largest international film festival in India.
The Festival, the only Indian film festival recognized by the FIAPF, is competitive for feature films
of Asian, African and South-American directors, and non-competitive for features from the rest of
the world.
In 2004, the IFFI showed 200 films from all over the World, among those 55 films were included in
the Cinema of the World section. It also organized a Tribute to the Canadian Cinema. The IFFI
statistics indicate that many media representatives and about 3000 industry delegates from all
over India and from abroad attended the Festival.
ELIGIBILITY
Open to feature films completed after January 1, 2004 for exhibition in Cinema of the World, a noncompetitive section.
ƒ Format: 35 mm.
ƒ Films entered are presented in their English original version or with English subtitles.
ƒ Films must have been entered in or won awards at other international film festivals or should
have extraordinary merit.
ƒ Are excluded, films already screened in India.
Should you wish to send your films for consideration, please make sure that each entry package
includes along with a VHS or a DVD (Pal preferably) viewing cassette:
ƒ Fully completed entry form.
ƒ Director’s filmography, synopsis and film credits.
