Dr. Jon Thompson, director of sports medicine at
Alpha Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, is doubleboard-certified in orthopedics and sports medicine.
A high school valedictorian, Dr. Thompson graduated
with honors at Dartmouth College where he played
on two Ivy League championship football teams. He
did his medical training in the U.S. military at Uniformed Services University where he proudly served
the brave men and women of the armed services for
more than a decade. During his residency, he wrote
the “Netter’s Concise Orthopaedic Anatomy,” a bestselling orthopedic text. Dr. Thompson specializes in
sports-related injuries, including joint instability, and
ligament reconstruction. He has mastered a state-ofthe-art cartilage restoration technique which restores
and preserves joints. His minimally invasive procedures allow patients to return to their normal activity levels and postpone joint replacements. A highly

When not in surgery or with patients, Dr. Thompson is a devoted husband and father to five children.
In fact, it is his large, active family that spurred his
interest in extremity sports injuries in children and
