Dr. Faye Trotman-Brathwaite is a graduate of Oakwood University, Clark Atlanta University and Nova Southeastern University. At Oakwood University, Brathwaite is Associate Professor of Accounting in the School of Business. Brathwaite has also served as an Assistant Professor at Athens State University and as an adjunct professor at Columbia College and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Dr. Brathwaite earned the DBA with emphasis in Accounting from Nova Southeastern University and has taught principles of accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, cost accounting, individual tax accounting, corporate tax accounting, auditing, fraud and advanced accounting at Oakwood University, Athens State University, Embry Riddle University and Columbia College. Her degree is applied to the research study of bankruptcy and ethics. Dr. Brathwaite was nominated to the Beta Gamma Sigma in 1981, Who’s Who in South and Southeast in 1994 and the Sigma Beta Delta national honor society in 2006. She graduated from University of the Southern Caribbean in 1975, Oakwood University in 1979, Clark Atlanta University in 1981 and Nova Southeastern University in 2006. Brathwaite has also earned the CPA certification from state of Maryland in 1993. Brathwaite’s professional career in accounting began at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Guyana, S.A., it continued at Merryl Lynch, and finally ended full-time at Prudential before moving to Oakwood University to teach. She developed her management skills in a variety of settings including, positions as accountant, manager, auditor, acting chairperson and consultant of several companies, not- for profit, private and government programs. Dr. Brathwaite holds membership in several professional organizations. Dr. Brathwaite’s research interests are ethics and student behavior. She sponsors two clubs: Delta mu Delta the International Honor Society for Business Administration, the Iota Pi Chapter of Oakwood University and National Association of Black Accountants, the Oakwood University Chapter. Faye is married to Compton Brathwaite. The Brathwaites have two sons who have attended Oakwood University—the older son is currently completing his degree at Strayer and the younger is a senior in Accounting at Oakwood University.
