All students are required to complete a minimum of 27 credits to graduate:

Grading Scale:
Students receive numeric grades on a 100 point
scale for each course. Grade point averages
(GPA) are calculated on a four-point scale (4.0)
converted from numeric scores. Honors courses earn one additional quality point and Advanced Placement (AP) courses earn two additional quality points (AP exam is not required).
The grading scale is as follows:
A:
93-100
4 quality points
B:
85-92
3 quality points
C:
77-84
2 quality points
D:
70-76
1 quality point
F:
0-69
0 quality point
Class Rank:
Cumulative weighted class rank is based on
semester grades in all subjects and is computed
for all students at the end of each semester.
Grade point averages and class ranks are computed on classes taken while in 9th-12th grade.
For the class of 2014, the median GPA was
3.4417 and the median class rank was 166.
The student ranked Number 1 in the class had
a weighted GPA of 4.9511.
Schedule:
Hickory Ridge High School operates on a 4 X
4 block schedule, with students receiving instruction in four ninety-minute classes, earning
four credits each semester. Students have the
opportunity to earn 32 credits in four years of
high school.

Hickory Ridge High School was established in August, 2007, and is one of seven traditional high
schools in Cabarrus County. Hickory Ridge is a
224,000 square foot facility located in Harrisburg,
just north of Charlotte. It is a comprehensive high
school, with a full academic curriculum. Hickory
Ridge is one of only three traditional high schools
in North Carolina to be named an “Honor School of
Excellence” for four consecutive years.

The mission of Hickory Ridge High School, an innovative, dedicated educational team in dynamic
partnership with our community, is to prepare all
students with the knowledge and skills necessary to
be successful, responsible, contributing citizens by
providing a caring, disciplined, world class learning

Extra-Curricular Activities:
Students are encouraged to participate in a variety
of extracurricular activities. Hickory Ridge offers a
broad range of clubs and organizations for students
to grow in leadership and service, recognize
achievements and honors, and allow for exploration
of individual interests. Our athletes participate in
28 interscholastic sports including: baseball, softball, golf, tennis, swimming, basketball, football,
track, cross country, etc.

Counseling:
The Counseling Department, comprised of five
counselors, a social worker, a registrar and testing
coordinator, provides a comprehensive counseling
program for each grade level, by assisting all students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally, in order to become life-long learners and responsible citizens. Due to the projected large number of students planning on furthering their education, the college selection and admission process is
central to the responsibilities of the counseling department.
