At the Maitland booth the winner was Maria D’Assisi of North York. Pics from June Mt. Sinai Hospital – Diversity Fair Toronto Pride affords us an invaluable opportunity for outreach and support, and our volunteers engaged in wonderful conversations with hundreds of people who connected with us at our booths. Indeed all of these events listed for June were opportunities not just for us to talk about diversity, the importance of allies and family support etc., but by accepting invitations such as these, people were able to approach us in their own settings, to feel comfortable asking questions they might not have an opportunity to do on other occasions, or just to feel accepted by ‘parent figures’. After a month like June our volunteers deserve a well-earned break, and August will provide that, as we scale back our commitments somewhat and take an opportunity to strategize and set in place our plans for the remainder of 2012. We will present a workshop in August for OACAS Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies. In the meantime, we look forward to enjoying the rest of the summer. I hope you all can relax and spend time with family and friends outside on a patio, balcony or backyard, or inside keeping cool. Our support meetings continue throughout the summer, and September will see us back in schools. Until then, I am, Yours in Pride, Irene Miller University of Toronto – 2nd year Medical Students Toronto PFLAG supports the riders and volunteers in the 2012 Friends for Life Bike Rally and encourages you all to come out and support them along the route.
