IT’S TIME...TO SPRING INTO ACTION
March/April 2015
SPRING is here and the Extreme Family Outreach is ready to “SPRING into Action” by
offering joy and hope to so many of our children as we head back into the communities for
our Scooby Doo After-School program.
Some may say, “Can we really change a life?”, “Does the
after-school program really make a difference?” Alyssa
White had the opportunity to share the impact that EFO made
in her life at our annual “Rewrite a Child’s Story” auction on
March 13th. Alyssa is a young lady that has been with us
since she was five years old and is now a beautiful 15 year old
high-school student with great expectations for the future and
a determination to make a impact in the lives of others as her
life was impacted by the Scooby Doo program. Alyssa stated
in her speech that she was first introduced to the Scooby Doo program when she lived on
Brookside Drive in Edgewood. She saw us setting up our program at the park that she was
not allowed to go to because of the violence. Alyssa asked her grandmother to take her over
because it looked like fun, she sat and watched, listened and had fun. She continued to attend every week and learned life lessons. “Many kids came out to participate, as we played
games, got lots of candy and prizes and learned important life lessons”. Alyssa shared how
the Extreme Famil Outreach took the park over and made it a safe place for one day a week.
A couple of years later Alyssa moved to another area of Edgewood and started attending the
Edgewood Assembly of God and the Scooby Doo program was started there as well, she
shared with a smile that it seemed like they were following her. Once in middle-school,
Alyssa joined our “Youth Leadership Program” and began to go to all the different sites to
help make other kids happy the way this program made her happy. To read Alyssa’s full
story go to our website at www.extremefamilyoutreach.org
