Beat the Tiger
Directions: Students will practice reading these sentences until they are fluent readers.
Directions for playing Beat the Tiger – This game has students play as a team as they try to beat the tiger. Each
student reads two or more sentences of the story. If the student makes an error that affects the comprehension of
the sentence, and he or she does not correct the error before moving to the next sentence, the tiger gets a point.
If the student does correct his or her error, or if no errors are made, the kids’ team gets a point. If an error is
made that does not affect the comprehension of the sentence, neither side gets a point.
