Youth Social Action Fund - applications throughout the year.
A new £1 million Youth Social Action Fund has been set up by the Government to encourage youth
participation in social action. The fund will address gaps in participation that a recent Ipsos Mori Youth
Social Action Survey identified.

Starbucks Youth Action - applications any time from July 2015 until February 2016
UK Youth and Starbucks are inviting groups working with young people to apply for grants of up to
£1,000. The Fund aims to inspire and support 16 to 24 year olds to make a positive impact in their
community. Two young people need to lead the project. Although the primary focus is on young people
not in education or employment, strong applications from other applicants are considered.

Henry Smith Trust
Henry Smith, one of the largest charitable trusts, offers Main grants and County grants supporting a wide
range of groups including carers, community service, disability, healthcare, mental health, young and
older people. There are no application deadlines but Trustees meet up quarterly in June, September
and December to consider applications.
The Trust also runs a Holiday Fund to provide disadvantaged children under 13 in the UK with a
recreational holiday or day trip they would not otherwise be able to go on. The children should be from
areas of high deprivation, experiencing disadvantage, or have a disability. Schools, youth groups and
charities are all eligible to apply for grants between £500 and £2,500. Deadlines vary depending on the
date of the trip. Awards are made on a first come first served basis.

Jeans for Genes Day/Genetic Disorders – deadline 30 Sept 2015
Grants of between £500 and £25,000 are available for UK charities and support groups that support
children (18 years or under) and families with genetic disorders. Funding is available for projects and
essential specialist equipment such as pain relieving beds, wheelchairs, car seats and portable hoists.

Triangle Trust 1949 Fund – opens early September and closes 5 November. 2016 will
follow a similar timescale
The Triangle Trust Development Grants programme is open twice yearly, for projects which support the
rehabilitation of offenders or ex-offenders Grants of up to £40,000 available. Applications for

Arts for Change Fund – deadline 8th October 2015
The Arts for Change Fund is operated by The Two Ridings Community Foundation. It supports projects
using the arts or cultural activities to engage with communities and enrich the lives of those who are
excluded or disadvantaged through low income, rural or social isolation, age, disabilities, race, sexuality
or gender. Priority will be given to small, locally based groups.

Arts Council England - Creative Local Growth Fund – deadline 16th October 2015
The Creative Local Growth Fund supports the cultural sector to contribute to local economic growth and
by securing long term partnership between LEPs, other local partners and the cultural sector. Grants
made under this strategic fund should be used as match funding for investment delivering under ERDF
or from other ESIF programmes such as the European Social Fund (ESF). Applicants can apply for
grants between £150,000 and £500,000. Activities can include: Skills development, apprenticeships and
paid internships; Innovation, research and development; Partnerships with other sectors (private sector,
higher and/or further education, other public agencies); Commercialisation of cultural products; Building
digital capacity; SME and start-up business support; Development of specific creative industry clusters.

Key Fund
Key Fund is offering access to finance of up to £150,000. If you are an established Social Enterprise, the
Key Fund wants to help you unlock your business potential and take you to the next stage. Mark your

Good Neighbours Scheme – applications throughout the year
Rural Action Yorkshire has grants of £300 for each community wanting to set up a Good Neighbours
Scheme. They will also provide support and guidance to assess the level of need in your community, set
up a group of core volunteers and provide information toolkits which include volunteer guidelines,
funding advice, insurance help and much more.

Coastal Revival Fund – deadline 14th September 2015
The Department for Communities & Local Government is inviting bids for grants to the Coastal Revival
Fund. The Fund is intended to help kick-start the regeneration of at-risk coastal heritage that has the
potential to create opportunities for new businesses and jobs. By paying for the initial work to get
restoration projects underway, the Fund will act as a catalyst to attract additional financing to help boost
local economies. The maximum bid is £50,000 and is available for both revenue and capital expenditure.

Paul Hamlyn Foundation New Grants
One of the UK’s largest independent grant-making foundations has launched its new strategic plan which
will run from 2015 to 2021 and increased its funding to £25 million per year. The Foundation which
closed to applications last October has reopened with a new strategy which focuses on six new priorities
relating to the changes it wishes to see in the UK. Funds currently open, with various rounds and closing

Money Saving Expert Financial Literacy - deadlines: 30 September, 31 January.
The MSE Charity addresses the problem of financial illiteracy by funding relevant guidance and
education for individuals and groups. Grants are up to £5,000 to constituted groups and charities, to
promote financial literacy, including consumer and debt issues.

The Allen Lane Foundation - applications throughout the year.
The Allen Lane Foundation provides grants for up to three years, of £500-£15,000; the average grant is
around £6,000. Funding is focused on activities which: make a lasting difference to people’s lives; aims
at reducing isolation, stigma and discrimination, and encourages or enables excluded groups to share in
the life of the whole community. Examples includes: advice or information; advocacy; arts activities for
therapeutic or social benefit; befriending or mentoring, social activities or drop-in centres and
strengthening the rights of particular groups.

Locality First Steps Programme - applications throughout the year
Community groups in deprived areas that want to develop a community action plan can apply now for a
package of support and grants. First Steps is part of the Community Rights Programme, funded by the
Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). The First Steps programme is being
managed by Locality and its delivery associates on behalf of the Government.

Neighbourhood Planning Grants and Support Programme – applications throughout the year
The new Programme (2015-2018) supports local communities that want to draw up a neighbourhood
plan for their area. Town and parish councils, neighbourhood forums and prospective neighbourhood
forums may apply. Two types of grants: between £1,000 and £8,000 is available for writing a
neighbourhood plan or neighbourhood development order; Specific packages and a further grant of
£6,000 for groups facing more complex issues.

Churchcare
Churchcare provides funding for Anglican church projects. The grants support PCCs in the conservation
of listed church buildings and their historic contents. Separate funds for a range of features, such as
organs, books, bells or stained glass. In addition to financial support, they provide expert conservation
advice to ensure that repairs follow best practice.

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) IMPACT Awards – deadline 25th September 2015
The competition offers cash prizes to registered charities that work in the fields of health and social care.
The awards recognise charities that are doing excellent work to improve people's health in the UK.
Organisations will need to show how their work reflects six areas of IMPACT: Innovation: Leadership:
Efficient use of resources; quality of management processes; equality of opportunity; Partnership;
Achievement; Community focus; Targeting needs. Prizes are: overall winner £40,000, ten organisations
£30,000 and up to ten runners-up £3,000.

The Joseph and Annie Cattle Trust is set up to help vulnerable people change their lives in Hull and East
Riding of Yorkshire, by providing financial support. The aged, disabled and underprivileged are assisted

Heritage Lottery Fund provides help to groups, communities and organisations to mark the centenary of
the start of the First World War by exploring, conserving and sharing the heritage of the First World War,
from memorials, buildings and sites, to photographs, letters and literature. Grants are from £3,000 £100,000 and upwards.
