Gigspanner present a carefully curated and skilfully narrated program of material that goes way beyond the folk genres usual boundaries. Peter is joined by Roger Flack on Guitar and Vincent Salzfaas on Percussion. Richard Durrant is a world class, virtuoso guitarist and his Christmas shows are amongst his most beautiful creations. With the evocative and wintry sound of early music from Christian, pagan and folk traditions as well as distinctive Durrant originals, this is a show of surprises and midwinter charm. Durrant is joined onstage by his special guest, singer Amy Kakoura. In 2012 Nafis graduated from the Masters degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and has successfully completed the Advanced Independent Study programme at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire. She presents a programme including Schubert and Liszt. Benjamin Baker Benjamin Baker WEDNESDAY 21 OCTOBER, 1PM £7 (£6 concessions) Born in New Zealand, violinist Benjamin Baker studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal College of Music. Supported by the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT), he has won numerous prestigious awards and performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Haydn Chamber Orchestra. Benjamin is plays on a Tononi violin (1709) on generous loan from a private individual. 2-YOU percussion duo: Shih-Han and Yu-Cheng WEDNESDAY 2 DECEMBER, 1PM £7 (£6 concessions) Shih-Han and Yu-Cheng are both Taiwanese percussionists undertaking advanced studies at Birmingham Conservatoire. His music has been described as ‘beautifully chilled’ and he writes and performs songs with an honest rawness. Will has performed at folk and acoustic clubs and festivals throughout the West Country and is a founding member of local band, ‘The Home Fires’. He will be joined by one or two guest musicians on the night. Accompanied by his band of trusty musician mates. Nocky Nocks (aka Jonny Walker) was born and raised in Scarborough. First learning to play drums at the age of eight Jonny’s passion for music started to grow. Jonny was introduced to hip hop at age 14 and is influenced by artists such as JayZ and Zack De La Roche. Dracula Douglas Joshua and Holly Taylor started singing together three years ago having been inspired by Irish indie film Once. They have continued to write, arrange and perform together with a repertoire of both covers and original material.
