APPENDIX A CCNA INSTRUCTOR TRAINER QUALIFICATION – FAQ CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Q: A: Who’s eligible to sit for the evaluation? The candidate must have completed either CCNA Discovery or CCNA Exploration and have taught at least one CCNA Discovery or Exploration class in the last 12 months. Q: A: Can any instructor take this evaluation? Priority will be given to candidates from an Instructor Training Center (ITC). If candidates are not from an ITC, candidates must find an ITC to sponsor him or her. Q: A: How many candidates can be evaluated in one day? A maximum of 5 candidates can be evaluated per day and a minimum of 3 candidates must be registered in order for an evaluation to occur. Q: A: When are the results revealed? Q: A: If a candidate fails an evaluation, when can he/she have another attempt? Retakes are allowed after a period of 6 months. Q: A: After passing the evaluation, will anything change in the instructor’s NetAcad profile? Yes, the profile will show that the candidate has completed the requirements for the “CCNA Instructor Trainer Qualification”. Q: A: What is required to maintain the instructor trainer status? A valid CCNA certificate or higher and must teach at least one instructor class are required for the recertification process, which takes place on a yearly basis. You will receive a customized score report highlighting your areas of strengths and areas for of development within 30 days or less. EVALUATION CENTER REQUIREMENTS Q: A: What are the hardware and software requirements at the evaluation center? This varies with the form of exam given, however you need to make sure the following is available: A classroom for the entire day with data projector (from 8 am to 8 pm); Two routers (with at least one Ethernet and one Serial interface), two switches and two PCs per candidate; PC need to be installed with Packet Tracer, terminal software and be able to run online Packet Tracer Skill Based assessment One serial back-to-back, one Ethernet and one rollover cable per candidate, in addition to USB-to-Serial adapters if required; Internet access; Access to a printer Access to the classroom and equipment the day before so that the proctor can check for required setup; EVALUATION PREPARATIONS Q: A: What material will I need to know? This is a CCNA-level evaluation, thus candidates are responsible for all material found in CCNA Exploration or Discovery. By default, CCNA Exploration will be the scope of the evaluation. Q: A: What does the exam consist of? The evaluation covers theoretical, practical and presentation skills related to CCNA Exploration (by default). Q: A: Is the exam translated to several languages? Currently, the exam (in all its sections) is available only in English. However, the presentation skills may be tested in other languages if English is not used in that country. Q: A: What are the arrangements for IT Essentials, CCNA Security and CCNP?
