Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination 2015 VISUAL ARTS Part Two: School-based Assessment Portfolio Submission for Private Candidates 1. The assessment of portfolio aims to reflect the artistic development of the candidate based on a selection of his/her artwork over a period of time. For each candidate should submit ONE Portfolio which consist a Research Workbook and 2 pieces of work (Artworks / Critical studies) for assessment. The Research Workbook must display the development of ideas, research and exploration of 2 pieces of work and the presentation on the art appreciation and criticism in context in relation to art making / critical studies. 2. Visual Arts genres include the following: - Drawing Painting / Print-making / Relief Photography / Mixed Media Sculpture / Ceramics / 3D Design / Installation Art (Note: All 3D works of art must be presented in photographs and must be mounted for future inspection by the HKEAA.) 2D Design (including Computer Aided Design) Chinese Calligraphy / Western Calligraphy Fashion Design/Interior Design / Publishing Design / Packaging Design Critical Art Study (including Art and Design Critiques, Comparison of Art Works / Artists, Design Works / Designers, Art & Design Styles of Different Periods in Art History) Cartoon / Comics / Illustration Animation/Multi Media Design (e.g. Web-page design, video, etc.) (Note: All Animation/Multi Media Design works must be submitted with a 2-D storyboard for future inspection by the HKEAA.) (Note: Candidates should not be limited to the reproduction of artwork, which may restrict the development of their own creative imagination or problem-solving skills.) 3. Private candidates should submit their portfolio to the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) Sub-office, G/F, HKEAA Tsuen Wan Assessment Centre, 7 Shing Mun Rd, Tsuen Wan, N.T. from 15 to 17 January 2015 (Service Hours: 15 to 16 January 2015 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, 17 January 2015 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm). Three-dimensional works must be submitted in the form of photographs or digital colour printouts (A4 size) in lieu of the actual works. Otherwise, these 3-D works will not be marked. All Animation/Multi Media Design works must be submitted with a 2-D storyboard. Otherwise, these works will not be marked. All works which are not larger than A1 (594mm x 841mm) should be arranged in a portfolio folder/bag for submission. The HKEAA is not liable, in any way whatever, for damage the portfolio. 4. Work included in the portfolio should be completed by the candidates within the two-year period prior to the year of examination. All pieces must be signed and dated. 5. Candidates are required to complete a statement of authenticity for their portfolios and to certify the authenticity of their work. The HKEAA may require candidates to attend an interview in order to acquire better understanding of the idea development and production process of the works submitted. If dishonesty is evidenced, the candidate will be liable to disqualification from the current DSE Visual Arts Examination and a record will be marked. 6. Candidates’ portfolios may be selected for exhibition anonymously on the HKEAA’s website or in public venues for teachers’ and potential candidates’ reference.
