State College of Florida Collegiate School is a 6-‐12 tuition-‐free public charter school in Bradenton, Florida. It is an innovative model that changes the educational landscape locally and that has national and international application. It is influenced by one of the best international schools, the Swedish Kunskapsskolan model, which nurtures motivation, independence and ensures student success while guiding students toward higher education. SCFCS opened in 2010, with grades 6 and 7, 135 students and 5 teachers. Each year there has been a new grade (or two) added to the school. In 2013-‐14, SCFCS has reached its capacity with 450 students in grades 6-‐12. Grades 6-‐10 are in building 19, with opportunity to utilize the campus resources including the library, science labs and Neel auditorium, for example. Students in grades 11 and 12 participate in the Accelerated College Program, with all the privileges of a college student, enrolled full time exclusively on the SCF campus. Every year since its opening, SCFCS has been graded by the state as an “A” school. We have recently received the FLDOE Commissioner of Education’s designation of a high-‐achieving charter school. Community Spanning 893 square miles, Manatee County School District serves the educational needs of the incorporated cities of Bradenton, Anna Maria, Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, Palmetto and the Town of Longboat Key. Located in one of the state's fastest growing areas, the district enjoys a diversified economic base with the median income per household near $39000 annually (Census 2000). Currently, the district consists of eight high schools, eleven middle schools, thirty-‐four elementary schools and eleven charter schools, utilizing mostly a K–5, 6–8, 9–12 grade-‐level configuration. The student body in Manatee County is culturally diverse with a population that is 23% Hispanic, 16% African American, 60% white and 1% Asian. SCFCS demographics reflect a population that is 19% Hispanic, 9% African American, 64% White and 9% Asian. SCF Collegiate School
The mission of SCFCS is to foster incentive and ensure student success within a seamless progression from middle grades through college. Demanding and rewarding innovative teaching and creative leadership establishes a system of customized, student-‐centered education, permeated by technology. The newest technology available enhances the student experience and enables students to connect globally. All students, grades sixth through tenth, are accepted without criteria; however, for the 11th grade, students must have a cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 and pass the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT), SAT or ACT exam. Juniors entering the Accelerated College program will replace the last two years of their high school academic career with college courses, ultimately earning an Associate in Arts degree. State College of Florida Collegiate School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement. Counseling office:

The Accelerated College Program is comprised of 11 and 12 grade students who will graduate simultaneously with a high school diploma and an associate in arts degree. A generous partnership with Florida Gulf Coast University offers SCFCS graduates a two-‐year scholarship for tuition and fees to complete their bachelor’s degree. This will be offered to our first ten graduating classes, beginning with our first graduating class in 2014. Curriculum and Graduation Requirements
The academic program for grades six through ten is organized on a 60-‐minute, 6-‐hour daily bell schedule. Six credits per year is the maximum th
th
course load. Differentiated instruction and a rigorous curriculum prepare students to be college-‐ready by 11 grade and sometimes as early as 10 th
