What is the difference between a Patriot and a Loyalist? A Patriot is a colonist who wants freedom from Britain. A Loyalist is a colonist who wants to remain in the British Empire. 2. What is Liberty tea? Why does the drink have this name? It is tea drunk by the Daughters of Liberty. It is also produced in the colonies and is untaxed by the British. 3. What information is listed in the newspaper article you may have found? Why would anyone be interested in this information? Mr. Lillie is an importer! Mr. Lillie is Constance’s uncle and I cannot talk the her anymore because our political opinions are too different. 4. Who is Christopher Seider? What has happened to him? Why and how did it happen? He was a apprentice about my age and he was shot by a loyalist. Mrs. Edes is calling it murder! 5. You may have had another conversation with Hugh White, the Redcoat. What did you learn about why he doesn’t like Royce? I didn’t talk to Hugh White again. 6. Why do you think Royce did that? 7. Why has Mr. Lillie’s shop been defaced with manure? Why has someone written the word “Importer” on it? Because Mr. Lillie imports goods from Great Britain and many in Boston want to defy Britain and not pay their taxes, like Mr. Lillie is. 1 8. If you asked about the name Townshend, what did you find out about who he is? Why might the person you spoke to be angry with Townshend? The Townshend Acts are a set of very unfair acts set by Great Britain on household goods. Mrs. Edes is a Daughter of Liberty and doesn’t approve of British taxes. 9. If Constance asked you to help her find her dog, you may have agreed or refused to help her. What did you do? Why? I agreed. I did it because I thought it would be a nice thing to do. 10. What later news does Mrs. Edes give you about Christopher Seider? How does it affect your opinion about the Patriots and the Loyalists? Mrs. Edes told me it was murder and that he had died from his wounds. This changes my views of the Loyalists because I didn’t know they were so violent. 11.
