 Tenured professor of educational research in the MA Core in Graduate Education (MAE);
focusing on coursework in educational research, educational issues, curriculum
development, assessment and evaluation, language and culture.
 California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC): member of accreditation team
for implementation of SB2042 Credential in the Multiple and Single Subject coursework
(TPE, TPA, Student Teaching Module, induction programs, and articulation with school
districts). Attend workshops sponsored by California Council for the Education of Teacher
on CSTP, SB2042, NCLB, Professional Learning Communities, California Standards, and
Induction.
 ICCUCET Board member and Secretary for eight years (Independent California Colleges
and Universities Council for the Education of Teachers).
 HACU/President’s Liaison to Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities as well as
Liaison to Hispanic Educational Endowment Fund (HEEF); four years.
 Campus Diversity Framework; authored first institutional framework for Vanguard’s

 Diversity Recruitment: Worked closely with high schools in Santa Ana to increase minority
leadership via access to post-secondary training; participant in parent-community
workshops and faculty professional development; founder of VU Teach Scholarship
targeting minority students; mentor of twelve minority students through BA/MA pipeline.

 Founder of Action Research Symposium, MA in Education.
 Coordinated and implemented a newly designed CLAD Emphasis teaching credential for
both the Multiple Subject and Single Subject Credentials. Approved by CCTC in 1996.
 Coordinated and developed the Master of Arts in Education, including both a credential
and MA Core component. Approved by WASC in 1997. Designed curriculum and wrote
the first Graduate Education catalog.
 Developed an MA Core implementing a rigorous practitioner-based educational research
experience focusing on both quantitative and qualitative methodologies for research
design.
 Developed an infrastructure to support student success in the MA Core: workshops in
SPSS for data analysis and APA for scholarly literary style.
 Developed support systems/infrastructure, including the hiring of faculty and staff, to
support the new VU graduate teaching credential program and the new MA program. This
included coordination of program relocation to new facilities to support the expanding
program and enhance a professional image.
 Coordinated the program’s first three major accreditation reviews: CCTC, RICA and
WASC (1995, 1996, 1997).
 Developed internal and external articulation partnerships with higher educational
institutions for teacher induction models.
 Participated in various community advisory groups and workshops to enhance articulation
between OCDE and higher educational institutions to support RICA, CLAD, and SB2040.

staff development; conducting financial planning and budgetary processes; and, assuming
responsibilities, leadership and management of all other aspects of the school's programs.
 Coordinated institutional effort toward Golden Bell Award in technology.
