“Can’t beat the Experience”
Indiana University, October 25 & 26, 2012
MSU will be sending four Sales Communication
Specialization students, seniors Zororo Makamba,
Jared Williams and Maria Sasinowski, and junior
Janisse Martinez, to compete in the sixth annual
National Team Selling Competition, sponsored by
Altria.
In this case-style event, teams of four students from
as many as 21 universities across the U.S. compete by
completing two sales calls: a 15 minute needs
assessment meeting in the morning followed by a
formal 20 minute presentation in the afternoon.
MSU won this competition in 2008, 2009, and 2011.
We are looking to retain the title in 2012 after the 1st
place last year. The winning team splits $2000.
Congratulations to the selected students and good
luck to our MSU team!

in Sales Communication
Hometown: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Company/organization of
internship: Procter & Gamble –
Customer Business Development
Intern (Sales)
Location of internship: Miami, Florida
Amount of time at internship: Summer
2012
How did you hear about this opportunity?
I heard about the CBD internship by networking with other students across the nation (through past internships). Once I found out
that P&G was on campus, I contacted them and learned more information.
How do/did you like the internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. Within P&G, I was placed in the Prestige Selling Stream. Therefore, my product portfolio
consisted of luxurious brands such as Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, and Lacoste. It was my first experience working within the luxury
industry, and I couldn’t have been happier. On top of that, my office was full of extremely friendly and supportive individuals. I
was immersed into a very intelligent and successful workspace, and was able to learn something new every single day.
What are/were your responsibilities?
I was assigned 3 major projects for the summer. For my first project, I was responsible for assessing airport media ROI based on a
variety of product launches. For my second project, I customized and delivered a Hugo Boss consultative sales presentation to a
Tier 1 customer. Lastly, I developed a business scorecard to identify Travel Retail America opportunities and gaps in key airports.
How did the internship prepare you for your career?
This internship provided key training sessions on a variety of business topics: sales, marketing, finance, and external relations.
These opportunities increased my awareness of the business world and the intricacies of the marketplace. I was also able to
network with various individuals and learn the details of potential future business roles. I was also taught how to effectively
execute on key issues within the business – something that is extremely important for my career.
What have you learned from your internship?
I learned too many things to be mentioned. But, generally speaking, I learned that it’s important to leverage your personal passions
in order to find the best-fit job for you. Once you find where your passion lies, you’ll be successful.
Would you recommend this internship to other students?
Procter & Gamble is a one-of-a-kind company, and I strongly recommend their internships to anyone willing to work hard. Their
internships allow you to tackle high-impact projects and will help you build key strengths applicable to your career path.
