The Alameda County Workforce Investment Board (ACWIB)
primarily serves individuals and businesses in Alameda County,
except for the City of Oakland. In collaboration with Contra
Costa County, a system of One Stop Career and Business
Centers known as EASTBAY Works (www.eastbayworks.org), to
serve both job seekers and employers.
Alameda County Small Business Development Center offers
classes, consulting services and business planning resources for
small businesses throughout Alameda County and is a member
of the Northern California SBDC network.

Alameda County General Services Agency provides high
quality, cost effective, and timely support services for County
departments and other public agencies, so they can better
serve the public and business community. The GSA web-site
has interactive capabilities and upcoming electronic
procurement and commerce enhancements for vendors as well
as a Small, Local, and Emerging Business Program (SLEB).
Alameda County SSA Department of Workforce and Benefits
Administration AC HIRE Program offers businesses no cost
recruitment assistance, job advertising, placement services,
information on subsidized employment and tax credit
programs.
California Employment Development Department’s
Workforce Services Branch provides a comprehensive range of
employment and training services in partnership with state and
local agencies and organizations through the America’s Job
Center of CaliforniaSM (AJCC), formerly known as One-Stop
Career Centers that benefit all job seekers and provide
employers free assistance in finding and hiring skilled workers.
California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic
Development (Go-Biz) provides resources when starting a
business, from checklists to statewide and local incentives.,
including access to the business permit wizard, State to Local
Government - CalGOLD (www.calgold.ca.gov).
The California Green Business Program is a network of local
governments working with DTSC to help companies switch to
green business practices. Businesses earn a seal of certification
from their local city or county by meeting rigorous criteria
established by the California Green Business Program.
Contra Costa County Purchasing Services support County
Departments by procuring the products, equipment and
services they need to deliver effective services to the public
through competitive solicitations, management of County-wide
purchasing contracts, and strategic use of cooperative
purchasing agreements. They value their vendor community
and strive to provide access to business opportunities in a fair,
responsible, and efficient manner.
