Guangzhou Xiangjiang High School, with its newly launched XJ-EL American High School
Program, has five to six teacher positions open for Fall 2013.
The five to six opening positions are:
1) High school teachers in Sciences, Math/AP calculus, Social Studies, English/EFL.
2) High school guidance counselors.
Guangzhou Xiangjiang High School (hereinafter referred to as XJHS) is a private boarding
school established in 2008. It is located on Jade-Green Island, 30 km away from
downtown Guangzhou. It is a residential area with natural scenic attractions. XJHS
currently has more than 100 teachers and staff members serving approximately 1,200
middle and high school students. Its campus covers an area of more than 100 acres, with
a variety of facilities and advanced equipment.
XJHS provides students with Advanced Placement (AP) courses and American College
Credit courses through the Coastline Community College in California. Recently, XJHS
launched a new cooperative program with East Lyme High School in Connecticut, XJ-EL
American High School Program. With the most qualified international college preparatory
program, XJHS ensures that each student will be enrolled in a well-known overseas higher
education institution upon graduation.
Salary and Benefits include:
a. Salary: 18,000-22,000RMB (equivalent to $2,903USD - $3,548 USD) per month, or
annual salary $29,030 - $35,480 USD, based on qualifications.
b. Two round-trip international tickets per school year (up to 20, 000RMB or USD $3,225).
c. Free housing: furnished, private housing during the teaching assignment will be
provided with free internet and cable TV.
d. Free shuttle pass to downtown Guangzhou.
e. End of academic year bonus (up to 20,000RMB, equivalent to $3,225 USD).
f. Extra end of academic year bonus offered to AP instructors (up to
10,000RMB, equivalent to $1,612 USD per AP course).
g. Holiday bonus (up to 9,500RMB, equivalent to $1,532USD).
h. Insurance package (2,000RMB, equivalent to $322USD).
i. Holiday gifts, summer and holiday trips, office supplies, etc.
Responsibilities:

Classroom teaching up to 16 hours per week, 4 hours of office hours per week and
other supervisory activities. Total weekly working time is up to 30 hours

Teach English to high school or middle school students if needed
Provide guidance to students for various club and community activities
Required Qualifications:

BA degree received from an accredited college or university with a major or minor in
a specific required area of teaching
Minimum of 2 years teaching experience at a secondary school (student teaching
experience may count)
Teaching license in required areas of teaching
Ability to effectively communicate in English with Chinese high school students
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

MA degree in required area of teaching
Prior experience or familiarity with Chinese culture and Chinese students
Ability to teach AP courses and advanced English
Effective Date:
August 24, 2013 – June 25, 2014 (one-year contract for all newly hired teachers, contract is
renewable for next two years).
