If you think Christopher
Columbus discovered
America, think again!
Lately in class we have
been talking about the Ice
Age and who really discovered North America. For
over a hundred years children were taught that our
founders came from Russia
and went across land,
called the Bering Strait
and populated the United
States.
who could have been here
first and how could they
have gotten here?
Dr. Bruce Bradley was doing an archaeological dig in
Virginia when he came
across a very interesting
find. He found a very sharp
spear that is 100 times
sharper than a steel point,
that you could only find in
France. This got him thinking there was another way
to get to America, and if so,
This artifact, found in the
1980s, is a surprising piece
of history. After running
some tests, Dr. Bradley
found out that the spear
was 20,000– 25,000 years
old, and was one of the
sharpest blades in history!
Dr. Bradley had discovered
that the earliest Americans
came not only from Asia,
like it was originally
thought, but possibly from
Europe! The clovis point
spear discovery led to a
change in history!

Blue Whales

Polar Bears
I will tell you some facts about polar
bears. Polar bears will eat almost anything in the North Pole. But a special
treat is a seal. Nothing eats them,
only humans. Sometimes they will go
to a different place and do some alone
time or take a nice nap. Polar bears
can swim 60 miles. They can sit on an
ice cube no matter what size, big or
small. They can survive in really cold
weather. Polar bears and Kodiak
bears are the two largest bears. Polar
bears can weigh 900-1,500 pounds.
Their feet are just like paddles. I hope
you learned good facts about polar
bears.
Physical Attributes and Lifespan:
Blue whales are blue. They are 106
feet long. Blue whales weigh 380,000
pounds. Habitat: Blue whales live in
the sunlight zone. Blue whales live in
the north and south oceans. Predators and Prey: People and killer
whales eat blue whales. Blue whales
eat krill. Blue whales have baleen.
Krill filter though their baleen. Fun
facts: a baby blue whale drinks more
than 150 gallons of milk a day. Blue
whales are the biggest animal on the
planet. Their spout can go 30 feet into
the air. Even though they were almost
extinct, they made a comeback. A blue
whale can eat 8,000 pounds of krill.
Early Bird
by Elena (2)
Just an egg you were and a few days
later I saw a crack. I came back to
school and there was a chick. We
named you Early Bird.
Early was the first chick to hatch in
the whole school. She tried to look for
a friend but there was nobody there.
She was very sad and went to sleep.
The next morning a bunch of chicks
hatched. Early was never lonely
again.
America!
by Will (4)
Dear Family,
This is how America is made! From
the dawn of time, everyone knows the
Declaration of Independence, but I
doubt you know it is called The Articles of Confederation! They thought it
was helpful, but it was the opposite of
that. There were the big states, like
New York, and small states, like Massachusetts. The big states said “We
feel like we need more power!” and
then Massachusetts said, “I think
states should be equal.” They were
arguing a lot, so along comes John
by Lainie (3)
Adams to see what ‘the commotion is’. The states told him
they hated the Articles of Confederation! So they had to
make a new one and then
BOOM along comes George
Washington to make sure it is
good. And there were 4,543
words including the signatures
and a famous line is this: “We,
the People.” And they loved it.
The End. The person who told
me this was Mr. Johns.
Sincerely, Will Michael

Once upon a time there was a
wolf. The wolf was climbing a mountain to find his brother and he got lost
on the way. Eventually he found his
brother and they tried to go home but
they got lost again. They climbed
back up the mountain and found a
crow who they asked for help. The
crow picked them up and flew till they
found their way. When they got home
the two wolves found a rabbit with his
paw under a rock. The wolves moved
the rock and the rabbit said, “Thank
you.” Next the wolves offered to swim
with the rabbit in the lake. The rabbit said, “Yes!” and they became
friends forever.

Once upon a time there was a
fox. He was naughty and he had a
bad imagination. He was a big bully
and was mean. One day he was so
mean that he pushed the limit! He
dumped everyone’s bucket. Very far,
far away there was a colorful eagle.
He was nice. He filled everyone’s
bucket. He was never mean and he
never bullied. One day he was flying
over and he saw the fox. The fox was
being nice! He just flew away but he
knew he was good. The fox
continued to be mean. The
other animals said to the
eagle, “Why did you fly away
from the fox? The fox is bad.
Why did you not get him?”
Then the eagle flies there.
“Hey, wait you do not look
mean.” “Ow, I am!” The fox
ran off. “Come back!” “No!”
Flash! Got the fox, bam, hits
the bird! He takes the fox by
the arm and teaches him a
lesson. He lets the fox go
free. Since then the fox was never
mean again.

There once was a colorful
bunny. One day she went hopping to

something. It was a bear that was
stuck. The bunny said, “Let me help
you.” And she let him free. The bear
asked if she wanted to go to the mountains and play. The bunny said,
“Yes!” On the way they met a wolf and
they all started playing. When they
least expected, the King of the Mountain Sr. Eagle came and said, “GET
OFF MY MOUNTAIN!” So the bunny,
bear and wolf all ran and never went

This is Paper Man.
He is a Super Hero.
He saves the world.
I’ll show you the one
time he saved the
world.
This is Professor Swirl. His super
power is an ice beam.
Let’s go and see.
This time Paper Man is going to fight
Professor Swirl. Paper Man heard
there was a bank robbery so he went
there and that’s how it began.
They started their battle. Paper
Man shot paper but Professor Swirl
was stronger. They fought and
fought but they didn’t come close to
a hit. So Paper Man made a plan
because he knew Professor Swirl’s
weakness! FIRE! He bought a big
sling shot. He made a fire, loaded it
into the slingshot and fired it. It
was a direct hit! Professor Swirl
went to jail. Paper Man is awesome.

year on October 2nd. They have
this day to show appreciation
to their grandparents and
share what they are doing in
class. Many kids go home with
their grandparents after the
event. I did and we went out to
lunch and had fun together.
Several classes made videos to share. Mrs. Robinson’s
class made a video about all the things they loved
about their grandparents. This is an annual event for

A Spooky Story: The Bumping Sound
One spooky Halloween we were carving pumpkins. When we finished we
set the pumpkins out on the front
porch and put candles in the pumpkins. Later, when I got in bed, I heard
a bumping sound against the front
door. I thought it was dad coming. But
I didn’t hear him go to bed. So I crept
out of bed and tiptoed downstairs.
When I looked out the window I saw
the pumpkin moving. For a second I
thought this was a dream, but I
pinched myself and knew it wasn’t a

dream. Then I heard a whistling
sound. By then I was terrified! Was it
a ghost? Why was it coming? Is it
haunted? All these questions were
running through my head. I was overwhelmed! I screamed! Everyone in
my family came rushing down. My
parents, my twin older sisters, and
my little brother. I was so scared I
couldn’t talk. So I pointed outside. My
parents rushed outside and grabbed
the pumpkin. And then I saw...a
small black cat! I laughed and
laughed and laughed.
After all, ghosts aren’t real. Right?
And then I heard a bump.
