Review the flashcards generated from previous activity(s) by having students read the words as a group or individually. 7. Once the students feel comfortable sounding out the blends, the following words can be dictated to build with their alphabet cubes. clap plan 2. Students remove all the alphabet cubes from their kits, identify and remove the letters for the activity. 3. Review the sound of l. Skill Development 1. Teach the students that both letter sounds are heard in a blend. Give them some examples of a letter blended with the letter l. 2. Write sl on the board. Ask the students to sound out those two letters. 3. Ask the students to predict words that start with a sl blend and write their ideas on the board. Practice sounding out each word they say. flap slip flip sled glad 8. Write all the words generated during the activity on flashcards for later review. Post the flashcards in the classroom for continuous practice and reference. Challenge Activity • Challenge the students to make the word “slant.” Assessment • Students read the word cards generated that day. Observe their understanding of the letter sounds used during the activity. 4. Next, write fl on the board. Ask the students to sound out those letters. 5. Ask them to think of words that begin with the fl blend. Write all of their ideas on the board and have them sound out each word. 6.
