Product Release History
Assembled by Paul DeGroot, Pica Communications
This file is an ongoing record of changes to Microsoft's Product List.
Since about 2004 the Product List has recorded changes to the list of products, marking
additions and deletions. Prior to that the changes were made, but not documented. While this
list is incomplete, particularly for changes before 2005, it can be a useful document for
determining when a product was released.
Beginning in July 2015, the Product List was incorporated into Product Terms. Some data has
also been included from the Online Services Terms.
While the information has been extracted from Microsoft Lists, it is not an official document
and we make no claims about its veracity. Note that the original Product List's “List of
Changes” contains some errors itself, such as products that are added twice, removed twice,
or never added or removed. Those errors have not been corrected in this document in most
cases, given the difficulty of tracking down this information.
You should ensure that your own records are complete and confirm them with Microsoft in
the event of any differences you find between this list and others.

movement of licenses within data centers and server farms. These expanded use rights apply to certain versions of server
applications that are available as of September 1, 2008 and any new versions after that date. Customers may also invoke
version downgrade rights and use earlier versions of the eligible server applications under these expanded use rights. The
expanded use rights will be published in the January 2009 Volume Licensing Product Use Rights (PUR). For more information,
