Sp. Int. In Thanksgiving for Marty and Wanda Gibson’s
25th Wedding Anniversary
In Jesus’ parable of the Unjust Steward, we encounter a
financial manager who has wasted his master’s wealth and
faces dismissal from his position. To overcome the crisis
confronting him, the steward reduces some very considerable
debts owed by poor neighbors to his master in order to help
them out. Though the steward has sinned against God and
his master by squandering what belongs to someone else, both
the prudent way in which he goes about resolving the crisis
coupled with relieving people who are in need can be seen as a
way to better steward the gifts entrusted to us by God.
Although good stewards today acknowledge that they may
never use their God-given gifts in a way that completely
conforms to the demands of the Gospel, a commitment to
using their gifts with prudence and for the purpose of helping
their neighbors wins God’s favor.

TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Saint Vincent’s Corner
In today’s Gospel, we see that prudent decisiveness means that we recognize that all our choices in daily living
are really choices for eternal life. Admission into heaven is something money cannot buy. The only currency that
has any value to secure our entrance is that of love.
As you place your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul collection basket or food box, know that you
are a sign of God’s love to those who are suffering.
The Pro-Life Place
Actively promoting a renewed respect for human life is the responsibility of every Catholic. The parish pro-life committee
assists in a special way by helping to make the parish a center of life, a place where parishioners understand the issues
and the importance of meeting the needs of those who are most vulnerable.
Discipleship demands that all Catholics work with others to build a civic society, aligned with Catholic Social Teaching, in
which all people are able to reach their fullest calling in both personal and community life. In the Catholic tradition,
responsible citizenship is a virtue; participation in the political process is a moral obligation. Faithful Citizenship is about
more than elections. It requires ongoing participation in the continuing political and legislative process.
Your first step is to register to vote.

The Catholic Church has always recognized the
important role of art and music in making a
connection to the sacred. Often a beautiful painting or symphony can move us to appreciate
God’s presence in our world. How do you include art and music in your home and workplace? Do you visit art galleries and attend musical productions that will touch your mind and
heart to think of God?
11th Annual Worldwide Children’s Eucharistic Holy Hour—October 4

Unity Rosary—October 19
CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING
The key to this Sunday’s readings, is the final
line of the Gospel. “You cannot serve both God
and mammon.” Again this week, Jesus asks us
about where our heart, our energy and our
devotion lie.
Are we committed to God or to the things of this
world? Are we aware of the needs of the poor or
do we trample them with our inattention? The
Lord urges us to be wise and clever so we can
serve him in serving those in need.

received assistance from the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.
She had participated in the walk every year, even last year just prior
to her failing health. Maria's son, Ventura Aguilar and his family,
were honored guests and participated in this year’s walk-a-thon.
Fr. Dean Wilhelm, along with 91 adults and 45 children, participated
in the event as they walked around the campus of Saint William
Parish.
The purpose of the walk was to raise money to re-stock "Maria's
pantry". A total of $5,106 was collected by the 136 walkers. Money
raised through this event will help to restock St. Vincent de Paul
pantry shelves which had been running low during the summer
months.
