Flash Card Ideas
Included are four sets of Arabic Alphabet Flash Cards. You will also
find Writing Playsheets. Print out the pages you want to work with.
The Arabic script is written in longhand form. Most of the letters
connect with each other in a similar way to cursive handwriting.
You read and write Arabic words from right to left. The sounds in
a word are written as they are pronounced in a logical, phonetic
order that uses consonants as the root for each word.
Joining strokes change the shapes of the letters. All arabic letters
have a basic shape when they are written alone. The letter shape
changes slightly when it appears at the beginning, middle or end
of a word. The beginning shapes are called "Inital", the middle
shapes are called, "Medial" and the ending shapes are called
"Finial."
You can add your own Sound Clue Words to the front or back of
each Flash Card. Included is a page called, Ideas for Sound Clue
Words. This list includes some Arabic words in The Alphabet
Song, by Yusuf Islam (formerly known as Cat Stevens). He wrote
this song for his children, and for kids around the world.
