Application for University Postgraduate Scholarship Programme 2014
1. Introduction
The “Chinese Government Scholarship -- University Postgraduate Programme”, a full
scholarship set up by the Ministry of Education of China (MOE) in 2008, is aimed at
promoting Chinese higher education brand on an international basis. Enrolment is
managed directly by China’s key universities. As a key comprehensive university,
Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) undertakes the
enrolment of international postgraduates under this government scholarship.
2. Eligibility
(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
(2) Applicants should meet the following eligibility requirements:
not be a registered student in Chinese universities at the time of application; or be a
graduate from Chinese universities for more than one year;
(3) Education background and age limit:
·Applicants for master's degree studies must have a bachelor's degree and be under
the age of 35.
·Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master's degree and be under the
age of 40.

Note: This scholarship is not available to students majoring in their native language
or in a third-country language such as English or French.

★Applicants for Chinese-medium programmes are required to take one year Chinese
language course prior to the academic study if their Chinese is not qualified. Only by
passing the required HSK test after the Chinese language course could they start their
major studies.

6. Scholarship details
① Exemption from tuition fee, laboratory experiment fee, internship fee, fee for basic
learning materials and accommodation on campus;
② Living allowance: RMB 1,700/month/person for master's students; RMB 2,000
/month /person for doctoral students;
③ One-off settlement subsidy: RMB 1, 500/person after registration;
④ Out-patient medical services together with comprehensive medical insurance;
⑤ International travel expenses: self-afforded.

7. Application time: February 21 to April 20, 2014
8. Application procedures
Applicants are eligible for scholarship assessment only after they are admitted to the
master's or doctoral programme of SWUFE.
① Applicants shall make online application at http://laihua.csc.edu.cn (Agency No.
of SWUFE at CSC: 10651) and download and print out the Application Form for
Chinese Government Scholarship and then sign the form.
②Meanwhile applicants are required to make another online application at
http://admission.swufe.edu.cn.
③ Submission of application documents:
Send by post to SWUFE Admission Office by April 20 2014 the Application Form
for Chinese Government Scholarship and other required documents: notarized highest
educational degree or diploma certificate, photocopy of the certificate, together with
the English translation(If the original one is not English version).

9. Selection and notification
Applicants will be given priority consideration if they graduate from world-renowned
universities, sister universities or are recommended by senior professors or experts. A
panel of experts at SWUFE will screen candidates for the scholarship and submit a list
of nominees to university authorities for approval. Scholarship decisions will be made
on the basis of the applicants’ application documents, academic performance, overall
merits, research achievements and supervisors’ comments. The final list of nominees
will be submitted to China Scholarship Council for final approval.
The result will be published on the website of the Admissions Office in Mid-June
2014. Scholarship awardees will be notified via email and their Admission Notice and
Visa Application Form (JW201) will be sent out as soon as possible.
