Students with Disabilities: Any student with a documented disability needing accommodations should speak to the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD; 847-467-5530) and to the instructor as early as possible in the quarter. All discussions will remain confidential. Grading Policy: Final grades will be assigned across all sections and determined using the following weights: WebAssign Worksheets Exam 1 Exam 2 Final Exam 40 points 48 points 100 points 100 points 200 points (Due Wednesdays, 11:59 pm) (6 weekly worksheets, 8 points each) (Monday, February 3, 2014, 6-7 pm) (Monday, March 3, 2014, 6-7 pm ) (Monday, March 17, 2013, 12-2 pm) We guarantee at least an A- to students with a combined final course percentage of 90% or higher, at least a B- to students with a percentage of 80% or higher, at least a C- to students with a percentage of 70% or higher, and at least a D- to students with a percentage of 60% or higher. However, the grading scale may be more lenient than this. Structure of Classes and Assignments: Weekly homework is posted on Blackboard under Common Course Documents on the All Sections Math 220 site. Please check the website for updates frequently. Homework will not be collected. However, homework will be the basis for all other assignments. Thursdays discussion sections are reserved for working in small groups through problems on worksheets. WebAssign assignments are due most weeks on Wednesdays, 11:59pm. WebAssign might be busy during high traffic hours, thus please be advised to finish your WebAssign assignment well before the deadline. Worksheets are worked through during the weekly discussion sections. Students may work in pairs. The discussion section will be split into two segments. First a brief review from the TA followed by working through the worksheets. Exam dates are fixed. Travel is not a sufficient excuse to reschedule the date or time of an exam. If you have a time conflict with any of the exams, please let the instructor know by Friday, January 17. When exams are returned, all grading questions should be made before leaving class or your exam must be returned to the instructor to review it in office hours. Regrade requests must be submitted in written form by the end of the class following the class in which the exam was returned. Academic Integrity: All cases of suspected dishonesty will be immediately referred to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies. Penalties can be quite severe. Don’t do it! Academic dishonesty on an assignment or exam will result in an immediate score of 0. Northwestern defines academic dishonesty as cheating, plagiarism, fabrication, obtaining an unfair advantage, aiding and abetting academic dishonesty, falsifying records and official documents, and obtaining unauthorized access to computerized records; details of these offenses are in the Undergraduate Catalog, the Student Handbook, and in the Academic Integrity guide. More detailed course information is on the All Sections Math 220 Blackboard site.
