Annual Report
2010-2011
Vision FW is continually working to bring value and quality programming to our members. As we recount the years
and look back at what we’ve built since our launch in 2007 it’s exciting to see our many accomplishments. Over the
last four years Vision FW has focused on incorporating a variety of opportunities that offer our members the best
professional organization experience in Fort Worth.
It’s been a year of firsts for Vision FW. In 2010 the group successfully launched two new programs, the 20/20
Awards recognizing companies for their ability to attract and retain young talent, and the Vision FW Day at the
Capitol trip inviting young professionals to spend the day in Austin during the 82nd legislative session. The
development of a new sub-committee focused on community action gave Vision FW a way to provide members the
ability to impact their community through various service projects and donations. And perhaps the most exciting
addition of 2010 is the Fort Worth 2035 project, giving YPs a hand in shaping a community we can all be proud of in
25 years.
Looking ahead, Vision FW will continue to develop and enhance programming that lives up to our mission of
providing young professionals the avenue to develop relationships, create opportunities, and foster the growth of Fort
Worth and its future leaders.
Special thanks to the many supporters and volunteers who contribute to the continued growth and sustainability of
the organization. We couldn’t do it without you!
We welcome your feedback and as always we encourage you to reach out to us anytime you have questions,
comments or suggestions. We look forward to another great year ahead and hope you are just as excited as we are
about what Vision FW is bringing to the table.

Community Outreach
In 2010, Vision FW added the Community Action Sub-Committee to increase community involvement by providing
members an avenue to serve in Fort Worth. In just a few months of existence, the Committee is already making its
presence felt in the community by taking on two major initiatives thus far.
Corporate Sponsors TD Ameritrade, Bell Helicopter, Weaver and Tarleton State University pitched in by collecting
items at their respective offices and donating time during service events.
Fort Worth ISD Supply Drive
Vision FW hosted three events where supplies were
collected, totaling more than 1,300 items donated to I.M.
Terrell Elementary School. The supplies were presented
to FWISD Superintendent Dr. Melody Johnson at the
Fort Worth Chamber’s State of Education event.
Cowboy Santas
During the holiday season Vision FW partnered with
Cowboy Santas where two volunteer events were
scheduled with more than 50 volunteers participating.
Volunteers had the opportunity to shop for items listed
on a family Christmas wish list. Volunteers then bagged
and sorted gifts in preparation for delivery. Members
pitched in to donate nearly 550 items valued at over
$7,000.

Inaugural 20/20 Awards
In 2010, Vision FW launched the 20/20 Awards, an awards
and recognition program for companies that excel in
attracting, retaining and engaging young talent.
The 20/20 Awards measure how companies make Fort
Worth a better place for YPs to live, work and play, and
were nominated, judged and voted upon by the YPs
themselves.
Applications asked for examples of unique ways the
company recognizes or provides a voice to its YPs, as well as benefits, training and empowerment, and quality of life
offerings.

The awards ceremony kicked off with a reception held on the Reata Restaurant rooftop, followed by a performance

Communication
Vision FW continues to focus on ways to keep members informed
on events and initiatives around the city. This year, the committee
debuted VIEWPOINT. Tagged as “The newsletter for Fort
Worth’s young professional,” VIEWPOINT recaps recent Vision
FW events, offers insights from Vision FW committee members
on current initiatives, and highlights new programs and events.
In addition, VIEWPOINT features stories on Fort Worth happenings
including updates on major projects and developing city goals and
objectives. Furthermore, the newsletter will ask Fort Worth’s YPs
to share thoughts on how they envision the city’s future culture,
economy and atmosphere making it the place to live, work and
play.
Annual Report | 2010-2011
Vision FW is also growing its social media following. This year Vision FW reached nearly 750 Facebook friends, 620
followers on Twitter and 323 members on LinkedIn.

Looking Ahead
Fort Worth 2035
Fort Worth’s young professionals are about to rethink Cowtown.
As part of the current Fort Worth leadership’s commitment to
engaging the next generation of leaders, Vision FW is taking on a
community visioning initiative aimed at imagining the city in 2035 and
what Fort Worth will need to attract and retain young professionals at a
time when cities everywhere will be in the thick of competition for a
limited pool of younger workers.
Issues for examination include education, public transportation,
nightlife, safety, “third spaces” (arts, parks and other outdoor spaces),
entrepreneurship opportunity and more.
Consultants Stacy Landreth Grau, Ph.D, Associate Professor of
Professional Practice in Marketing at Texas Christian University’s
Neeley School of Business, and her colleague, Associate Professor Susan
Kleiser, Ph.D, will assist with the project.
Under the supervision of Dr. Kleiser, a team of second-year MBA students from TCU conducted the qualitative
research consisting of focus groups. The information gained from focus group research will be used to develop a
survey to be distributed in early summer 2011. Those results will be shared during a town hall meeting in late fall for
brainstorming.
“We don’t need to figure out how to plug our young leaders into today’s Forth Worth; we need to provide
them the forum that allows them to create the blueprint for what tomorrow’s Fort Worth will be.
Vision Fort Worth can provide the platform that brings our future leaders together in order to brainstorm,
envision, define and implement the map to our future.”
Jeff King, Chairman 2010-2011
Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce
