SPANISH COURSE FOR TEACHERS FROM
THE PHILIPPINE PUBLIC SYSTEM OF EDUCATION
As part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Spanish Ministry
of Education, Culture and Sport, Instituto Cervantes and AECID with the Department
of Education (DepEd), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
(TESDA), and the Philippine Normal University (PNU), a training course for teachers
of Spanish will be held in Instituto Cervantes Manila from 10 April to 24 May.
A total of one hundred and twenty one teachers will take part in the course (ninety
from the Department of Education, fifteen from TESDA and thirteen from the
Philippine Normal University). The course will consist of six modules, and teachers
will complete one hundred and eighty hours of intensive training.
In 2013/14 eighty Secondary Public Schools and four Regional Centers from TESDA
will offer Spanish as a Foreign Language. Also, PNU students will be able to take a
twenty four unit Certificate which will enable them to become teachers of Spanish in
Secondary Education.
The Graduation Ceremony will take place in the Central Office of the Department of
Education on 24 May and will be presided by Secretary of Education Armin Luistro
and Ambassador Jorge Domecq.
