Master of Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership (36 credit hours) This is a Florida state-approved program designed for Florida certified teachers who can complete the Practicum in the State of Florida and for those who intend to seek Educational Leadership (Level 1) certification through the Florida Department of Education. The curriculum consists of a coherent set of courses that constitutes three domains: Instructional Leadership, School Operations, and School Leadership. Coursework will emphasize the cogent theories, policies, and practical aspects of education. Fieldwork is required. Face-to-Face Cohort | Online Master of Education with a concentration in Exceptional Student Education (36 credit hours) There are three tracks offered for the Exceptional Student Education program: Track A This is a Florida state-approved program for those students who wish to become a teacher or whom are already a teacher leading to certification eligibility in the State of Florida in Exceptional Student Education (K12) with Reading and ESOL endorsements. This track is for those students who want to increase their knowledge in the area of special education. A practicum is required and an internship may be required if a teaching certificate is not already held. Online Track B This is a state-approved program for those students who are already a teacher with a Florida Professional teaching certificate, and Reading and ESOL Endorsements who want to increase their knowledge in the area of special education and seeking certification eligibility in the State of Florida in Exceptional Student Education (K12). A practicum and field work are required. Online Track C This is a non state-approved program for those students who are already a teacher with ESE certification, and Reading and ESOL Endorsements and are seeking a master’s degree. A practicum and field work are required. Online Teaching Students With Exceptionality (1 Credit) This one credit hour course in Teaching Students with Exceptionality is to meet the state of Florida’s teacher certification requirement effective July 1, 2014. All teachers who recertify must have a 1 credit course in ESE or its equivalent in in-service hours. This course is being offered online Summer 2, Fall 2, and Spring 2 terms in an 8 week format. This course focuses on current issues in exceptional student education. Topics will include legislation and its impact on students with exceptionalities and current trends in special education in Florida. Online Master of Education with a concentration in Instructional Leadership (36 credit hours) This program is for those educators who want to enhance their leadership skills while remaining in the classroom. The purpose of this concentration is to assist those educators to develop the management and leadership skills necessary for full participation in educational governance at the school, district, and community levels. Individuals in this program are not seeking Educational Leadership certification through the Florida Department of Education. Fieldwork is required. Online Master of Education with a concentration in Reading (36 credit hours) This is a Florida state-approved program designed for certified teachers who want to develop advanced skills in literacy teaching, and earn their State of Florida reading specialist certification and reading endorsement. Students will learn how to implement an integrated language arts program, assess literacy levels and apply current research and instructional approaches to improve students’ reading and writing skills. Fieldwork is required. Face-to-Face Cohort | Online Graduate Certificate in Reading (18 credit hours) The graduate certificate in Reading is designed to align with the State of Florida expectations for the Reading Endorsement. Students who are interested in earning this certificate can attend classes with degree-seeking students while developing needed skills to be highly effective teachers. Online Master of Science in Instructional Design (36 credit hours) This is a dynamic online program of study based on the International Board of Standards for Training, Performance and Instruction (IBSTPI) standards that prepares students for career opportunities in the field of Instructional Design to design, develop, implement and evaluate efficient and effective instructional experiences for a variety of settings, including corporate training, military, adult learning, and higher education. The curriculum is guided by professional standards in the field, and focuses on the development of specialized skills in the areas of instructional design, learning theory and relevant technology in order to be able to develop curriculum for the 21st century learner. Online Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design (15 credit hours) The Instructional Design program offers a 15-credit hour Graduate Certificate. The five-course online graduate certificate program in instructional design is designed for individuals who are seeking an advanced graduate certificate in lieu of a master’s degree program.
