Intel Science Talent Search
The application for the Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS) 2015 is now open! We are
counting on you to help us spread the word among eligible students that they may begin an
application at any time. Now more students than ever receive recognition for their work via
digital badges awarded for completing an entry, composing a college-level research report, and
showing extraordinary initiative.
Intel STS, a program of Society for Science & the Public, is for US students who will be in their
last year of secondary school in November 2014. Students may submit individual independent
research. Some past winners have completed research over several years, while others have
done so in as little as six weeks.
Applicants submit their research in the form of a research report, and also submit essay
questions, teacher recommendations, test scores, and transcripts. There is no limit to the
number of entries from a geographic area and there are no cutoffs for test scores or GPA. Every
eligible entry is reviewed by three PhD level scientists or professional engineers.
Three hundred semifinalists are chosen and awarded $1,000. Their schools also receive $1,000
for each semifinalist. Forty finalists are then selected and win an all-expenses paid trip to
Washington, DC to compete for a total of $630,000 in awards, with a top award of $100,000.
Please encourage your eligible students to apply to Intel STS 2015!

Every year, we join forces with The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine to offer
Chicagoland students that are especially interested in working with animals – and even more

our auditorium here at The Anti-Cruelty Society (located at 169 W. Grand Ave.). Each session
offers a completely unique look at the field of veterinary medicine from practicing professionals
that either work at The University of Illinois or are closely affiliated with it.
Our goal with this program is to introduce students to the different areas of science that they will
encounter in veterinary school, and to give them further exposure of what their college-level
course work will be like. Because of this, the Veterinary Mentoring Program is geared toward
passionate, driven students that already have a strong interest in the field of veterinary medicine.
