Kwabena Osei-Sarpong’s Biography
Kwabena Osei-Sarpong is the founder and CEO of Rife International LLC, an 8(a) and MBE certified energy
efficiency, sustainable development and construction management firm with expertise in high-profile, complex
projects for both public and private sector customers.
Headquartered in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area, Rife specializes in building energy retrofits, energy
efficiency program development and implementation, renewable energy, and modernization of buildings. Rife
International’s clients include top agencies such as the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA), the Missile
Defense Agency (MDA), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Patent and Trade Mark Office (PTO), the
Maryland Energy Administration (MEA), the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the General Services
Administration (GSA), which manages over $500 billion in U.S government property.
Mr. Osei-Sarpong’s most notable accomplishments in the energy efficiency space include supporting the
Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) with subject matter experts in the development and implementation of
Geothermal Natural Gas Conversion and Solar Water Heating energy programs for the State of Maryland.
Additionally, his expertise in energy efficient educational institutions has won him contracts to provide energy
efficient solutions at several notable tertiary and K-12 institutions, including several buildings at the University
of Maryland’s Campuses and thirteen (13) schools in Allegany County, Maryland. Mr. Osei-Sarpong has also
provided energy efficiency upgrades to several office and retail buildings in Washington, DC through the
District of Columbia Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) program. As an expert he has been selected to speak
on energy efficiency and sustainability at GSA’s property management guild meeting in Washington D.C and
has also provided training to GSA energy efficiency staff. Notably, Mr. Osei-Sarpong has spoken to the Chinese
government delegation in Beijing on economic development and international trade.
In 2010, Mr. Osei-Sarpong was recognized by the Apex Society for his success as a business leader in
Washington DC upon receiving the “Power 30 Under 30 Award.” While a business leader in the Washington,
DC metro area, he has given back to the energy efficiency and renewable energy industry by being a frequent
speaker on energy efficiency, sustainable development and government contracting subject matters. Mr. OseiSarpong has received many awards and accolades for his leadership. He is the recipient of the “2010 Member
of the Year Award” from the African American Real Estate Professionals of Washington, DC (AAREP DC),
was a recipient of the “2014 Top 100 MBEs” award for the Mid-Atlantic region, served as past president of
AAREP DC, and served as a two term President at the EACH Foundation. Mr. Osei-Sarpong currently serves
on the boards of the Educational Accessibility for Children in Hardship (EACH), African American Real Estate
Professionals of DC (AAREP DC), and the African Diaspora for Change Foundation (ADFC).
A Charles McClellan scholar, he holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting
from Radford University and a Masters degree in Real Estate Development (MPSRE) with a focus on Energy
Efficiency and Sustainable Development from Georgetown University. He is certified as a Construction Quality
Manager through the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and a graduate of The Masters Series for
Distinguished Leaders Program from the Skinner Leadership Institute.
