The ABE (Adult Basic Education) and GED program at South Puget Sound Community College helps students build their reading, writing, and math skills. GED students get help to prepare for the official GED tests.
The $25 tuition+ $15 matriculation fee ($40 total) for ABE/GED classes can be paid at the Cashier’s Office in
Building 25. Tuition is due by the third day of the quarter.
If you are under the age of 18, you must bring a completed High School Release form, signed by a school official and parent/guardian. You can pick up this form at your local high school, at the high school’s district office, or South Puget Sound Community College's Testing Center in building 25.
If you are new, or returning to the program after more than six months, you must take an Entry Test to register for classes.
Entry tests will be given in the college Testing Center: portable M1 (next to B. 26)
Testing will start one month before the beginning of each quarter.
Entry testing is on a drop-in schedule during the following times:
Monday 8:00AM-3:00PM
Tuesday 8:00AM-6:00PM
After testing, you will get information for how to sign up for an ABE/GED Welcome and Registration
Session . At this session, you will receive an orientation to the Basic Skills Programs and register for
ABE/GED classes.

Children are not allowed in testing sessions or in any ABE/GED classes.
The tests students tak e during these sessions are not GED practice tests. They help place students in correct classes and are required for enrollment.
