We are thankful for the support that Fleet Feet provides for the Volume 2, Issue 9 Pre-season preparation is important, not just to make the team but to compete and play at your top level, maximizing your potential. During the pre-season program, athletes increase explosive power, foot and arm speed, agility, core strength, flexibility, and endurance. Within the program, injury prevention is particularly geared towards knees, ankles, shoulders, and backs. The goal is to build up, not break down, for the season. PUMP is a unique place where competitive athletes can train in an environment that is motivating, safe, competitive and fun. Our basketball preseason camp just finished and our athletes posted 5% gain in vertical leap, and overall improved athletic power and agility. Our programs feature: One coach and at least one assistant coach. • Training sessions that are 1 to 1 1/2 hours long with a class size 10 to 12 athletes. • Essential training elements include explosive power development, agility and balance enhancement, strength training, core strength and stability training, speed and quickness development, and flexibility programs. • Essential components at PUMP programs are education, training and care of the athlete’s body, injury prevention, and recovery mechanisms from competition to competition. • Pre-hab components integrated into PUMP programs include hip, knee, and ankle stability; shoulder stability; athletic posture care; core strength; and balance and movement orientation. • Athletes are tested before and after programs to define progress and set goals. • • A PUMP T-shirt is provided for each athlete. LODI PHYSICAL THERAPY and the PUMP INSTITUTE both offer a Page 5 “walk-in” injury assessment for athletes. An injured athlete can come in for a free consultation and the appropriate action will be determined for follow up for this athlete. If an athlete is injured and needs physical therapy treatment, a written referral will be obtained from the athletes physician and Lodi Physical Therapy will conduct comprehensive evaluation of their injury. The athlete will then proceed through a rehabilitation program targeted to return them quickly and safely to their sport. Once completing the rehabilitation phase, the athlete will be able to work on sports specific training and injury prevention at the PUMP INSTITUTE.
