POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT SERVICE MANAGER OFF CAMPUS COLLEGE TRANSPORT Off Campus College Transport (OCCT) at Binghamton University is seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Service Manager. As with any transportation system, the service manager plays a pivotal role in the management and efficient operation of the OCCT bus system. OCCT serves the transportation needs of the students of Binghamton University. OCCT is a student centered operation which includes student drivers, administrative coordinators, and dispatchers. The service manager is one of three professional employees in the company which is supervised by a board of directors made up of representatives from the student body, the university staff, and the employees of OCCT. The service manager is responsible for: 1. Maintaining OCCT’s compliance with local, state, and federal requirements 2. Establishing the preventive maintenance program, including a. Serving as the liaison between the mechanic and the on campus office staff b. Assisting the mechanic in day-to-day and long-term shop operations c. Overseeing the parts room, 3. Monitoring the budget, including determination of maintenance costs per mile 4. Evaluating productivity and efficiency 5. Assisting the mechanic and office staff with demand planning 6. Maintaining and updating OCCT’s ticket system 7. Preparing and distributing changes and/or alterations to service including detours 8. Assisting the Director with HR related activities 9. Providing dispatch service when appropriate 10. Ensuring continuous appropriate and reliable bus service These duties require that the service manager have: 1. Technical knowledge and the ability to manage a professional maintenance program to serve the 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. business with the intent of reducing all costs per mile. An understanding of accounting, budget analysis and computerized fleet maintenance systems. The ability to evaluate the effectiveness of the maintenance program, determine problem areas and implement programs to fix and/or eliminate any problems. An understanding of working in a continuous improvement environment A professional understanding and approach to promoting safe work habits and employee growth. Excellent communication skills The successful candidate will have experience working with transportation systems or in a related field along with excellent organizational, supervisory, and communication skills. The service manager is a fulltime employee of OCCT, Inc., reports directly to the Director and assists the Director in supervision of the OCCT Coordinators. The Service Manager’s office is located in the bus service garage on Commerce Road in Vestal, NY. General work hours are from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday although additional time may be needed for meetings and other activities necessary for the efficient operation of the bus system. Compensation is dependent on experience and qualification and will be determined at time of offering and a benefit package similar to that of the Director.
