SPH 3U - Grade 11 University Physics
A problem solving course that includes theory,
labs and hands-on projects. We explore motion
and forces that cause motion, interaction of
different types of energy, sound and
electromagnetism.
SCIENCE
COURSES
SNC 1D - Grade 9 Academic Science
An introductory course to develop understanding of
basic concepts and theories in ecology, chemistry,
astronomy and electricity and to relate science to
technology, society and the environment. Research,
lab work and theoretical models will be important
components of study.
SNC 2D - Grade 10 Academic Science
An advanced course to expose students to animal
and plant anatomy, chemistry, optics and climate
change. Extensive lab work and theoretical learning
prepares you for university level courses.
Students taking Academic courses can switch to Applied/College courses at any grade
level
SNC 1P - Grade 9 Applied Science
An introductory course to develop understanding of
basic concepts and theories in ecology, chemistry,
astronomy and electricity. The development of
practical skills and relating their studies to everyday
problems and issues will be emphasized.
SNC 1L - Grade 9
Essential Science
- Locally Developed
An introduction to
ecosystems, chemistry,
electricity and
astronomy. Practical
hands on activities and
labs are emphasized.
SNC 2L - Grade 10
Essential Science
- Locally Developed
This course emphasizes
reinforcing and
strengthening science
related knowledge and
skills, including scientific
inquiry, critical thinking
and the relationship
between science, society
and the environment.
SNC 2P - Grade 10 Applied Science
A course intended to expose students to
human cells and anatomy, chemistry, optics
and climate change. Research investigations
and lab work will prepare you for future
college courses.
SVN 3E - Grade 11 Environmental
Science
Provides students with the knowledge and
hands on skills to make informed decisions
in the workplace and personal lives.
Topics include: energy conservation,
environmental impact, human health and
resource management.
SCH 3U - Grade 11 University Chemistry
A problem solving course exploring the
properties of matter, amounts of chemicals in
reactions, and identifying unknown
substances. Be prepared for extensive lab
work. Academic math strongly
recommended.
SBI 3U - Grade 11 University Biology
Exploring human, animal and plant anatomy
and systems, genetic influences, and the
relationship between different species. Lab
experiences and a dissection will further
develop understanding.
SVN 3M - Grade 11 Environmental Science
This course is intended to help students to
understand their role in environmental issues,
realize the impact of the environment on human
health and critically evaluate the practices of
waste management, sustainable forestry,
agriculture and energy conservation.
SBI 3C - Grade 11 College Biology
Practical hands on biology course covering
cellular biology, microbiology, anatomy,
genetics and plants. Be prepared for frequent
lab work and an animal dissection.
SPH 4U - Grade 12 University Physics
A problem solving course that includes theory and
labs to prepare students for post secondary.
Extensive exploration of forces that cause motion,
types of energy, electromagnetism and quantum
theory.
SCH4U - Grade 12 University Chemistry
Further explore the structure of atoms and
compounds including organic molecules.
Investigates reasons behind chemical reactions
and influencing factors. Prepares students for
post secondary studies with theory and lab work.
SBI 4U - Grade 12 University Biology
A study of molecular biological processes and their
operation on humans, biotechnology and genetics.
Grade 11 Chemistry is an asset. Prepares students for
post secondary studies.
SPH 4C - Grade 12 College Physics
Problem solving course that includes many
labs and hands on projects to prepare
students for college. We explore motion and
forces that cause motion, types of energy,
communication technologies and electronics.
Students who have attained 70% in MBF3C
will be better prepared to succeed in this
course.
SCH 4C - Grade 13 College Chemistry
Problem solving course exploring properties of
matter, amounts of chemicals in reactions, and
identifying unknown substances. Extensive lab work
and theory will prepare you for college. College math
is strongly recommended.
