PICK-UP PLAYERS.
General Rule.Allteamsarepermittedtopick-upthreeplayersasfollows:
01.
Theteamaddingpick-upplayersmustselecteligiblerostermembersfromASAregisteredteamsintheteam’sownlocalassociation.
EXCEPTION:Allmen’sandwomen’sfastpitchdivisions,JuniorOlympicBoy’sFastPitchandJuniorOlympicGoldGirls’18-UnderFastPitch.Pickupplayersmaycome
fromteamswithintheregionthatarenolongereligibleforchampionshipplay.Pick-upplayerswillnotbeallowedaftertheNationalChampionshipFinalsfor theNationalChampionshipSeries.
02.
Pick-upplayersmusthaveplayedforanASA-registeredteamduringthecurrentseasonandmusthaveplayedinthedivisionofplayforwhichtheyarebeing
pickedup.
03.
Pick-upplayersmustbeselectedonlyfromASAregisteredteamsnolongereligibleforchampionshipplay.
04.
Pick-upplayersmustbefromtheteam’ssamedivisionandthesameorlowerclassification.

CLARIFICATION:InJuniorOlympicplaytheretwotypesofclassification,onetypeofclassificationisGold,ClassAandClassB;theothertypeofclassificationisage
classification,18-Under,16-Under,14-Under,12-Underand10-Under.Thereforeasanexample,aplayerwhohascompetedonaJuniorOlympicGirls’ FastPitch16-Underteamisnotaneligiblepick-upplayerforanyteambelowthe16-Underageclassification.

Players(AdultandJuniorOlympics)whoseteamshavequalifiedtocompeteinthehighestleveltournamentswithinaclassificationshallnotbeeligiblepick-up players.
CLARIFICATION:AplayerwhohascompetedinanyJuniorOlympicGirls’FastPitchNationalChampionshipisnotaneligiblepick-upplayerfortheGirls’18-UnderGold NationalChampionship.
EXCEPTION:AplayerwhohascompetedintheMen’s23-UnderorWomen’s23-Underchampionshipplayiseligibletoparticipateinotheradultchampionshipplayduring
thesameseasonasapick-upplayer.

NoplayermaybepickedupforNationalQualifiers,JuniorOlympicHallofFameTournamentsorTerritoryQualifyingtournaments.
07.
Inadultdivisionsofplay,apick-upplayermaybesubstitutedforafterparticipation.
08.
InJuniorOlympicdivisionsofplay,apick-upplayermaynotbesubstitutedforafterparticipation.
09.
JuniorOlympicGOLDandClassAplayerswhocompeteonadultteamsaspick-upplayersareonlyeligibletobepickedupforMajororClassAteams.
10.
Aplayermayplaywithonlyoneteamotherthantheirownteamwithinadivisioninaseason.
11.
Teamsaddingpick-upplayersmustsubmitacompletedofficialASApick-upplayerformattachedtotheofficialrosterbeforetheteamplaysinthetournament.
12.
Pick-upplayerswhochosetoparticipateintheJuniorOlympicGirls’ClassBprogrammaynothaveparticipatedinanycollegesoftballprogram.
Fast Pitch, Modified Pitch, and Slow Pitch Pickup Players. AplayermaybepickedupatanylevelofchampionshipplaypriortotheNationalChampionshipFinalasfollows:

Ifplayersarepickeduppriortothelocalassociationchampionship,theymustbegovernedbytheirlocalassociationrules.
02.
Ifplayersarepickedupaftertheirlocalassociationchampionship,thepickupplayer(s)mustbegovernedbyArticle 503 oftheASA Code.
Church Slow Pitch and Industrial Slow Pitch Teams. Teamsmaynotpickupanyplayerthatdoesnotmeettheeligibilityrequirementsofthatdivisionofplay.
