Morrison Academy Kaohsiung is a K-12 college preparatory day school in the second-largest city in Taiwan. MAK is one of three campuses of Morrison Christian
Association, the other two campuses being Morrison Academy Taichung (K-12) and Morrison Academy Taipei (K-9). MAK added a tenth grade in 2013, built a new high school wing in 2014, and is graduating its first senior class in 2016.
As part of the Morrison system, MAK’s program is built upon Morrison’s more than sixty years of tradition and excellence in American college preparatory education in Taiwan. As a Christian school, MAK promotes a Christ-centered school culture that looks to develop not only the minds but also the hearts of its students.
Each member of the Class of 2016 has completed the rigorous, seminar-based program offered at MAK, along with the high school’s Impact Program, which creates unique and challenging experiences designed to cultivate leadership and character. Most students at MAK are overseas-born Taiwanese whose families are a part of the large international business community in Kaohsiung.
MAK has high English language proficiency requirements and therefore does not offer an ELL program for high school students. All MAK students must have a non-Taiwanese passport.
High school enrollment at MAK for the 2015-2016 school year is 64, with students from 8 countries, predominantly the U.S. and Canada. There are 16 students in the senior class, 13 in the junior class, 17 in the sophomore class, and 18 in the freshman class. Nearly all high school staff members are from the United States or Canada, and the majority hold advanced degrees.
