Welcome to Wesleyan University! During the next several days, you will settle into your residence hall,
meet with your faculty advisor, select your fall courses, and get to know your new classmates. You have
chosen to become part of a vibrant community, one that will encourage your personal growth.
What awaits you this week is just a taste of the rich academic and cocurricular life you will experience during your years at Wesleyan. It is important that you understand the responsibilities all students
share: to uphold the Honor Code and the Code of Non-Academic Conduct, and to treat your fellow
classmates with civility and respect. Wesleyan is fortunate to have a diverse student body, and we
encourage you to participate fully in discussions and programs that explore and celebrate that diversity.
Again, we extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of the Wesleyan community.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION
WELCOME TO ISO!
International Student Orientation (ISO) is designed to introduce you, incoming international students, to
campus life at Wesleyan University, and to ease your transition to the United States. ISO is led by a carefully
selected group of students, some international and some American. We are sure you have many questions
about Wesleyan and the United States, and we are here to help you with anything you might need. You will
be expected to participate in ALL activities and sessions, and we, in turn, will try to answer all of your questions and help to make your transition as smooth as possible. We are sure you will enjoy getting to know this
vibrant, challenging, and fun community.
As ISO ends, you will move straight into New Student Orientation (NSO) for all new Wesleyan students.
NSO is your opportunity to meet with all the members of the Class of 2019, your hallmates, and residential,
peer, and faculty advisors, and to begin expanding your friendships beyond the international community. ISO
will give you a head start (and time to recover from jet lag) and an introduction to the international community; at NSO you will become more fully acquainted with Wesleyan life through a series of informational
and fun events and activities.
On behalf of the Orientation interns and Orientation leaders, and the students, faculty, and staff of the
Wesleyan community, we extend our warm welcome to you. We look forward to getting to know each one
of you. Have a productive and enjoyable time at ISO/NSO, and welcome to the Wesleyan Class of 2019!

Last year, Wesleyan students rallied for black lives matter, advocated for ethnic studies, campaigned to improve
working conditions for custodial staff, and urged Wesleyan to
divest from the fossil fuel industry, private prisons, and those
who profit from the occupation of the West Bank. Students
also spoke out about mental health, disability, gender-neutral
bathrooms, safe sex, and sexual assaults on campus.
We unite by working at Long Lane Farm, participating in
workshops on social issues, writing for student publications,
having potlucks with local residents, and gardening with
Middletown communities. Each voice and body has a place
