PETITION FOR A SELF INSTRUCTIONAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM
Wesleyan students with a compelling academic reason to do so may petition to undertake a selfinstructional language program in a less-commonly taught language at the introductory or
intermediate level. 1 Wesleyan credit per semester may be awarded for such study, with a
maximum of 2 semesters towards graduation. Petitions must be filed by November 15 for the
spring semester, and by May 1 for the fall semester. SILP’s are not approved for first year
students, and only seniors who have begun their study of a language abroad are eligible.
