Brown-Forman Cooperages, a wholly-owned division of Brown-Forman Corporation, is known the world over for crafting the highest quality oak barrels for the aging of premium spirits. Unquestionably, these vessels impart many of the complex flavors and rich color as the spirits age. Master distillers and coopers all share a critical understanding of the role these fine oak barrels play in enhancing the consumers' ultimate sensory perceptions and experience. Since Brown-Forman Beverages Worldwide is a producer of some of the world's finest spirits including Jack Daniel's ®, Woodford Reserve®, Old Forester®, Early Times® and Canadian Mist®. And we have a vested interested in the quality of every barrel we make. Whether it's for the creation and aging of the spirits or wine, crafting the vessels begins with the careful selection of the wood. Brown-Forman Cooperages owns and operates for stave mills in middle American to ensure our high quality standards for material are met. P.O. Box 37210 Louisville, Kentucky 40233 Fax (502) 364-4567 (502)368-7626 Brown-Forman Cooperages is proud to be the last large-scale cooperage operations in the world that are owned and operated by a distillery company -- Brown-Forman Corporation. Our heritage means that we understand where value is added every step of the way. From the quality of the wood selected for each barrel to the exacting standards we use in the drying and toasting and charring processes -we have a vested interest in the sensory contribution of our barrels to the final consumer product. Use Barrels Jack Daniel's, Brown-Forman's flagship brand, is the largest purchaser of Blue Grass cooperage barrels. As each season passes during the aging process, the barrels expand and contract forcing the whiskey in and out of the wood. This process imparts the amber color and complex flavors of the barrel to the whiskey. Once used, the oak retain some of the absorbed whiskey. Distillers who purchase these Blue Grass Cooperage used barrels appreciate the intricate flavors they can achieve their own distilling process with the use of the flavor-rich vessels. The maturation process can also be accelerated with these fresh-used barrels, thus increasing inventory turns. And since Blue Grass Cooperage is the original manufacturer and we retain ownership of the Jack Daniel's barrels, our used barrels represent a better value to our customers. New Whiskey Barrels As the manufacturer of the barrel for premium spirits, our customers benefit from the same quality control that we demand for our own products. These high standards begin with the wood procurement all the way through shipping the final product. Master distillers know the final color and flavor are directly related to the quality of our barrels. Blue Grass Cooperage supplies whiskey barrels primarily for Jack Daniel's®, and other bourbon brands including Old Forester ® and Woodford Reserve®. Shipping As a large international corporation, our significant freight volume means Brown-Forman Cooperages can offer highly competitive landed or delivered pricing. Let us help you save money. Ask us how when you buy our premium quality barrels. P.O. Box 37210 Louisville, Kentucky 40233 Fax (502) 364-4567 (502)368-7626 A key ingredient in the recipe for many scotches, rums, tequilas and other spirits around the globe is the flavor imparted from a used Blue Grass Cooperage barrel. These barrels were shipped new to one of our whiskey distilleries, used once for seasoning and then returned to Blue Grass Cooperage for distribution as used barrels. Fresh-used barrels can impart faster color and flavor so distillers benefit from a shorter maturation period. Used barrels are available in different grades: #1 Selects are freshly dumped and have no signs of leakage, especially on the heads. They will have no cracked staves, and a maximum of two hairline cracks anywhere on the barrel. The heads are not warped and do not rise above the chime. When the barrel is on its end, it will not rock. These barrels are shipped with a bung tight in the bung hole. #2 Selects are freshly dumped, with no signs of leakage, especially around the head. There are no cracked staves, and they have a maximum of four hairline cracks anywhere on the barrel. This barrel is normally used for palletized aging, thus the location of the hairline crack is not a factor. These heads are also not warped, and with the 1/2" allowance will not rock when on end. Distillery Runs are received at several of our distribution locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, and are immediately reloaded onto containers or trucks for shipments to customers. We do not inspect of select from our Distillery Run Barrels. Culls Barrels do not meet the high standards of #1 Selects or #2 Selects. Culls can have severe cracked staves and two bowed heads. Culls can be excellent values for our customers who have the capability of performing barrel repairs on site. Shooks are barrels that have been dismantled, with any cracked staves replaced with matching stave of the same width and length (stave are matched croze to croze). The staves are tied in neat bundles, and may be numbered for reassembly if requested. Shooks may be supplied without heads or hoops, at reduced prices, where the staves are to be used construct "hogsheads". P.O.
