APPLICANTS FOR ENROLMENT IN A-LEVEL

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS

1.

Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School started in 1988 and has expanded to include A-Level since 2005.

2.

The school is managed by the Congregation of Christian Brothers for the Catholic Archdiocese of Arusha.

3.

Ten combinations (as listed on the Application Form) are under consideration but the ones to be offered by the school will depend upon the number of applications for each – in recent years all ten have been taken by the students.

4.

The offer of a place in boarding and the continuation of that place is dependent upon health and safety, cooperation and good academic progress

5.

The fee schedule for A-Level for the current year is available in the Enrolment section of the website.

6.

This form costs 15 000/-TS, payable upon collection of the form or at interview and includes the cost of interview and further communication.

7.

This form must be completed and returned to the school at the interview. A recent passport size coloured photograph of the applicant must be attached before the form will be accepted and before an interview will take place.

8.

INTERVIEWS: No student will be considered for enrolment without having attended the school for an interview with either the Registrar or a senior member of the administration.

9.

Interviews are generally available at the school on any school working day, ie Monday to Friday except for public holidays.

10.

At interview, the following matters will be clarified:

 the process for announcing offers

 the commencement of classes

11.

Acceptance of an offer should be made within one week of an offer being made.

12.

Students who enrol after the commencement of classes are to report as soon as possible – classes early in the academic year are most important as they set the basics of the subject.

13.

Enrolment procedures are under the direct control of the Headmaster who reserves the right to alter these guidelines in any specific instance but has appointed a Registrar to deal with all enrolment matters.

For FORM FIVE APPLICANTS

14.

Students should ensure that the following materials are brought for the interview – they will be collected at the interview:

The completed Application Form including the Recommendations from a Priest/Pastor/Imam of your religious faith and a senior staff member of your previous school – with appropriate stamping.

A copy of your Form Four (CSEE) Leaving Certificate

 A copy of your Form Four (CSEE) Result Slip(s) or print out(s) from the NECTA website – showing the index number – for each sitting of the CSEE

A copy of either your Birth Certificate or your Baptismal Card

15.

All Form Five applicants must be aware of the following requirements from NECTA, applicable from the 2014-15 academic year:

“Applicant for Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) shall be required to observe the following:

(a) School Candidate applicant must have

(i)

(ii) attended secondary education for two years consecutively in a registered secondary school passed a minimum of five subjects at the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or its equivalent, in which three shall be at credit pass regardless of whether the credits were obtained in

(iii) one or different sittings, and passed all three combination subjects registered for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education

Examination (ACSEE)

(b) Private Candidate applica nt shall have a minimum of three credits (A, B+, B or C )in three different subjects at the

Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or its equivalent, regardless of whether the credits were obtained in one or different settings.”

For FORM SIX APPLICANTS

16.

17.

Form Six applicants after 2014 should note the above NECTA requirements for School and Private Candidates.

18.

Places in Form Six will be available for all combinations: all applicants are required to

 Complete the Application Form and attach the required information

 EITHER: Attend for the end of term/year examinations in their combination and General Studies for the current Form Five students

OR: Attend for a written interview of three hours based on their combination – the written interview to take place at an agreed date and time.
