Summer Camps 2013 Social Emotional Needs of Gifted Students (SENG), Orlando, FL The annual conference is in Orlando this summer, July 19-20. There is a youth and teen program that students can attend while their parents are at the conference. Most conferences about giftedness focus primarily on educational issues. While they may include a few presentations about the social and emotional development and needs of gifted people and the challenges facing the gifted population, these presentations play a minor role. SENG conferences reverse the priorities. We believe that recognizing, understanding, and accepting the social and emotional needs of this population are the first priorities for teachers, parents, and counselors. SENG supports strong gifted education programs, but we believe the emotional piece is the foundation for the development of healthy, happy, well-adjusted, appropriately educated, and contributing gifted members of society http://www.sengifted.org/programs/conferences Energetic Einsteins Energetic Einsteins offers a number of opportunities to gifted students and their families including summer programs and Camps for gifted 3rd-10th graders as well as Internship opportunities for older gifted students. Summer program dates for 2012: Session 1 July 9-13, Session 2 July 23-27, & Session 3 July 30-August 3. Energetic Einsteins is a program formed by Institute for Biomedical Philosophy faculty to facilitate Educational Partnerships and Outreach Opportunities for Scientists. We strive to facilitate the transmission of knowledge from the research community to the general public and educational community. Our programs utilize current scientific content and are directed by doctoral level faculty committed to improving the scientific literacy of students and the general public. Our faculty members provide services to enhance science education by facilitating development of research-based programs and appropriate laboratory facilities for families or organizations. http://energeticeinsteins.com/Gifted_Summer_Science_Camps.html Seacamp Seacamp is a Marine Biology/SCUBA summer camp for teens 12-17 located in the beautiful Florida Keys.
