General Information
The Parish of Christ the King
As Parish Priest at Christ the King I want to introduce
myself to you and to let you know about some of the
many things that take place in our Church. Each
weekend we have 1500 people coming to Mass but that
is only a part of what we do. There are two excellent
churches and parish schools, a social centre, a sports
centre and many clubs and societies for all age groups.
You maybe a catholic already involved in the parish.
You maybe someone who has lost links with the parish
for various reasons, you maybe living locally and have
had little contact with us. You will see that we are
involved in many projects and all are welcome to join
us.
There are many other Parish groups that meet week by
week and it is not possible to list them all but some of
these include the Mercia Friendship Club for over fifty’s,
which meet every Friday during term time, in the
Community Centre . You can contact Pat Flanagan on
76335383. An Irish Dancing Group meet every Monday
evening in the Community Centre . The Legion of Mary
and St Vincent de Paul Society, who arrange to visit
people in their homes, especially the sick and elderly
also meet regularly. Scripture reflection on Tuesday
mornings and the Prayer group on Tuesday evenings.
The Knights of St Columba also support social care
projects and meet monthly. Sunday evenings at the
Community Centre is used as a parish social evening to
which everyone is welcome. The bar is open and there
is dancing and live music.
If there are any ways you feel we can be of help then do
contact us using the contact details in this leaflet. God
Bless you and your families.

Parish Sports Centre
The Sports Centre at St Augustine is a popular local facility. It has three squash courts, a fully equipped gym, a
weights room and a full sized sports hall for football,
badminton and basketball. The upper floor is used for
dance, keep fit, martial arts and cultural classes for the
Tamil community. For more information please contact
Tim Evans or Alan Kerr on 024 76601118
Mother & Toddler Group
The group began in 2008 when it was suggested there
should be something in the parish for parents and their
young children. There was such a large amount of interest that groups were set up on Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday mornings and they have been fully subscribed ever since. The group is for children aged from
birth to 4 to have fun and mix with other children. A
small donation each week covers the cost of refreshments and resources and any extra money is donated to
a charity agreed by the group. For more information

Youth Activities
The parish has
two thriving youth
groups known as
Youth Group and
Youth Cafe. They
meet on Tuesdays
and over 100
young people are
regular members.
The groups are
run by a very
dedicated team of trained Youth Leaders. The meetings
end with night prayer comprising of both music and
prayer which is led by the young people. The group
helps with the Lourdes pilgrimage, World Youth Day
events, and the Christmas and Easter parties for the
sick and housebound. For more details contact Carmel
