complete all homework and test requirements for this class.
The IVCC Learning Commons Computer Lab (815.224.0318), located in D-201,
has the program installed on the computers in there and usage of the machines is
on a first-come, first-served basis. IVCC staff is available for assistance for general
questions. They are not surrogate instructors for this course.
Email
Account
This course requires that you use IVCC provided K email account. Any
correspondence from IVCC and your instructor will ONLY be to this email. Any
correspondence to your instructor should have a subject line of CSP-1203-100 Your
Last Name.
MyITLab
MyITLab is a website that will be used to administer various components of this
class. MyITLab is a dynamic, interactive eLearning program. The recommended
browser for MyITLab activities is Internet Explorer (IE) 8 or higher rather than Safari
or Firefox. IVCC has found that this browser is more stable for interacting on the
site.

Blackboard:
BlackBoard is a web based package that allows students access to course
resources including an electronic grade book, data files, a discussion board,
instructor contact information and much more.
Usage of Blackboard for this class will be for assignment submission, testing
purposes, cumulative grade storage (both Blackboard & MyITLab) and as a
communication tool.
It is highly recommended that you utilize Mozilla Firefox browser instead of Internet
Explorer or Safari to access Blackboard. Download the free latest version at
www.firefox.com.
Assignments
and Exams:
Required assignments are listed on Pages 5 - 8 with their applicable point value.
Assignments are due by end of the week by midnight. The table also indicates
where the assignments are to be submitted; either Blackboard or MyITLab. Any
deviation to assignments will be posted as an announcement in Blackboard and will
be emailed to your IVCC email account. Past due assignments will be reduced 5
points for every week they are late. SAVE ALL ASSIGNMENTS!!!
The files necessary to complete the textbook assignments are located in
Blackboard through the Course Documents & Files tab, on the cd that accompanied
your textbook and also on the MyITLab website. The MyITLab Grader Project
provides the files necessary to complete the assignment when you launch it. The
MyITLab assignments can be done an unlimited amount of times to improve your
score.

Microsoft Office Professional I (Web)
There are four exams that are scheduled after the last chapter of Word, Excel,
Access, and PowerPoint. They are two parts: a knowledge assessment portion
(taken in Blackboard) and a skills assessment portion (taken in MyITLab).
You will be able to retake the MyITLab exams three times to improve your score.
Your highest score will be recorded in the MyITLab gradebook.
When you take the Blackboard exams, make sure that you are on a computer
with a cable connection (not wireless, not dial-up, not mobile). A wireless
connection is not strong enough to allow you to complete the exam in the 1 hour 15
minute time frame. In fact, it will probably stop you long before you are even
through with a few questions.
Each Blackboard exam is timed allowing for 1 hour and 15 minutes. You can only
take each of the Blackboard exams one time. Once you start a Blackboard exam,
the clock is activated. If you are still in your exam when 1 hour 15 minutes expires,
your test grade will not be captured. Be sure to exit prior to the expiration.
In addition to the weekly assignments and the four exams, an Integrated
Assignment is also due the last week of class. The integrated project is
structured to demonstrate how each Office component works with each other and
show the student how the common features allow for the efficient data flow between
the programs.
Gradebooks:
Blackboard and MyItLab each have a grade book. The grade book in MyItLab will
capture the percentage of correctness of your assignments and your instructor will
convert the percentage to points and enter them into the Blackboard gradebook at
the conclusion of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. A conversion table of
MyITLab percentage to course grade points is available in Blackboard under
Course Documents & Files. You can access this to ensure that your instructor has
recorded the correct point value when transferring MyITLab grades into the
Blackboard gradebook.
The Blackboard gradebook is your master gradebook where your cumulative
grade will be recorded. If at any time, you feel that something is incorrect with
information in the Blackboard gradebook, please email me as soon as possible. I
will address the situation with you until it is either corrected or explained.
Grading

Tests will be graded according to the scale below. Your course grade will be
comprised from the total assignment & test points earned.

Withdrawal:
Students have the ability to initiate a withdrawal from classes by completing the
form in the Records Office or through the form located within WebAdvisor (only
through the last date to withdraw).Entering your student ID number serves as your
student electronic signature. IVCC has the right to rescind a withdrawal in cases of
academic dishonesty or at the instructor’s discretion. The last date for withdrawing
from this course is Thursday, 4/9/15.
Students should be aware of the impact of a withdrawal on full-time status for
insurance purposes and for financial aid. It is highly recommended that students
meet with their instructor or with a counselor before withdrawing from a class to
discuss if a withdrawal is the best course of action for that particular student.
More detailed information is available at www.ivcc.edu/admissions and selecting the
menu item for Withdrawals on the left side of the page.
Cheating:
Policies regarding cheating may be found under the heading of ‘Academic Integrity’
in the IVCC Student Handbook. Students should become familiar with these policies
and abide by them.
Plagiarism:
Students are responsible for authenticating any assignment submitted to an
instructor. If asked, you must be able to produce proof that the assignment you
submit is actually your own work. Therefore, we recommend that you engage in a
verifiable working process on assignments. Keep copies of all drafts of your work,
make photocopies of research materials, write summaries or research materials,
keep logs or journals of your work on assignments and papers, learn to save drafts
or versions of assignments under individual file names on computer diskette, etc.
The inability to authenticate your work, should an instructor request it, is a sufficient
ground for failing the assignment. Also, instructors may employ various other means
of ascertaining authenticity – such as engaging in Internet searches, creating
quizzes based on student work, requiring students to explain their work and/or
process orally, etc.
Disability
Assistance:
If you need support or assistance because of a physical, psychiatric or cognitive
disability, you may be eligible for academic support services such as extended test
time, texts on disc, note taking services, etc. by contacting the Disability Services
office located in B-204. Tina Hardy (tina_hardy@ivcc.edu), 815.224.0284 or Judy
Mika 815.224.0350.
