Welcome to Columbus Regional Hospital’s
New Wellness Center
Welcome to Columbus Regional Hospital’s Wellness Center located in the new Mill Race Center, a
community facility for active adults located in award-winning Mill Race Park. This handsome facility
will provide a variety of programs during the week as well as many of our traditional Wellness
classes. We will continue to offer Wellness classes at Donner Center, Cummins (COB) and our Marr
Road Rehabilitation Center.
Through the generous donation of a grant from the Columbus Regional Hospital Foundation, we are
able to provide the following services at this new location.
Fitness Facility
The Wellness Center includes an innovative fitness facility with internationally top rated, age-friendly
cardio and strength equipment that will make your workout more effective and fun. Our fitness
facility will accommodate everyone from beginner to advanced level participants for an effective
workout that feels great on equipment that is easy to use. Certified fitness instructors will work with
members to develop a fitness plan based upon goals and a personal fitness evaluation.
Exercise and Education
In this new expanded space we will offer many of our current Wellness exercise classes as well as
group health education, health screenings, support groups and more!
Physical and Occupational Therapy
We are now offering physical and occupational therapy at an additional location in our Wellness
Center. Our experienced team of physical and occupational therapists are available to treat your
injury or illness and get you back on your feet and living your life to the fullest.

Wellness Center at Mill Race Park
The Wellness Center includes the ultimate Fitness Facility with internationally top-rated, agefriendly cardio and strength training equipment for a consistently premium experience. Our
fitness equipment is thoughtfully grouped into workout spaces. Our goal is to provide equipment
that meets a wide variety of physical abilities. We can accommodate everyone from beginner to
the advanced level participants with equipment that is fun and easy to use.
Certified Fitness Instructors will work with you to develop your fitness plan based upon your
goals and a personal fitness evaluation. They will work to help you achieve safe, effective results.
Our Fitness Facility is open Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Friday
from 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Stop by during our open hours for a tour and orientation to our Fitness
Facility and Wellness classes or call 812.376.5808 to schedule a tour.
Innovative Building Design and Beautiful Locker Rooms
Our Fitness Facility, located in Mill Race Center’s innovative building design, has floor to ceiling
windows that look out over beautiful, award winning Mill Race Park. As you work out in our
Fitness Facility you will enjoy beautiful scenery and comfortable, versatile equipment that will
create the ultimate workout experience. Our Fitness Facility includes a beautiful locker room
area that offers showers, restrooms and lockers at no additional cost.
Cardio Fitness Training Equipment
We provide the perfect cardiovascular workout with a wide variety of equipment that includes “on
board entertainment”. Our treadmills, recumbent bikes and elliptical trainers are equipped with
touch screen easy-to-use TVs. Just bring your headphones, iPod or iPhone and enjoy your favorite
television shows or videos. With these added entertainment options, workouts are more enjoyable
than ever.
Strength Training Equipment
The most comfortable strength training equipment can be found throughout our Fitness Facility.
This nationally top rated, age-friendly equipment offers a total strength solution that will inspire
you to achieve your fitness goals. The natural, comfortable motions of the machines provide
effective workouts that feel great.
Free Fitness Testing
Maintaining adequate strength, flexibility and endurance are critical whether your interests are
playing golf, gardening or performing simple everyday tasks such as climbing stairs or getting
out of a chair or bathtub without assistance.
Certified Fitness Instructors from Columbus Regional Hospital’s Wellness Center are providing
a FREE individual fitness test involving common activities such as getting up from a chair, walking, lifting, bending and stretching. The fitness test was developed by the LifeSpan Project conducted at California State University and meets scientific standards for reliability and validity.
Your fitness test results will help you understand how you compare to others of your age and gender along with what is needed to maintain good mobility. A Certified Fitness Instructor will work
with you on setting goals and planning an effective program to help you improve your physical
condition.

Fitness Facility Pass

The Fitness Facility pass includes the use of the fitness
center, locker room and Enhanced Fitness Classes. These
passes can be purchased at Donner Center or by calling
812.376.2680. Passes are not pro-rated. A discount is
provided to members of Mill Race Center. You can join
anytime throughout the year. There is no initiation fee or
contract required.
Fitness Facility Hours of Operation
Monday through Thursday 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. and
Friday 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. A certified Fitness Instructor
will be in the Fitness Facility at all times to provide
fitness screenings, orientation to equipment and guidance
on how to reach your fitness goals.

Enhanced Fitness Class - Free with Fitness Facility Membership
We offer a nationally recognized group exercise program that was developed by the University
of Washington Health Promotion Research Center especially for older adults. Participants can
take the class seated or standing. The exercises focus on four key areas that are important to the
health and fitness of active adults: stretching and flexibility; low impact exercise; strength training; and balance. Exercises are modified to meet the varying abilities of participants by Certified
Fitness Instructors. Your progress is tracked as you increase your strength and activity level.
The Enhanced Fitness Class is FREE and only available with a Fitness Facility membership.
SilverSneakers®
SilverSneakers® Fitness Program is a fun, energizing wellness program that helps older adults
take greater control of their health by encouraging physical activity. Unlock the door to greater
independence and a healthier life. This award-winning program is offered at our new Wellness
Center for those who are eligible for Medicare or to group retirees. This program is FREE and only
available to SilverSneakers® members. Some of the great benefits include:
• Access to our Fitness Facility (during designated times).
• Customized SilverSneakers® classes designed exclusively for older adults who want to
improve their strength, flexibility, balance and endurance (chairs are used if stability is
needed for standing/sitting).
• Health education seminars and other events that promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Traditional Wellness Classes
Columbus Regional Hospital is pleased to continue to offer our traditional Wellness classes
where you will receive high quality personal service to help you achieve and maintain improved
health and well-being. Our classes are designed for different wellness interests and levels of
physical ability. Classes are open to adults of all ages.
We will offer many of our classes at the new Wellness Center located in Mill Race Center as
well as other locations throughout the community. For a current listing of available classes,

Classes are available for registration throughout the year through our partnership with
Columbus Parks and Recreation Department. See the many ways you can register below.
Personal Training
Personal training provides extra motivation and professional assistance in achieving your
fitness goals through one-on-one fitness sessions. Our certified Personal Trainers will work
with you to develop the ideal program for you. Personal training is an additional service
offered by the Fitness Facility. Session times and rates vary. Packages are available. For more

Take time to learn about what is vital for a healthy lifestyle.
Gather with friends for FREE monthly seminars to help you
gain tools for proper nutrition, wellness, fitness, diabetes, brain
health, dizziness, hearing, back and knee pain and so much

Living Healthy Workshop - “Put Life Back Into Your Life”
Are you an adult age 50 or older with an ongoing health
condition? If you have one of the following conditions, we can
help you take charge of your life.

Attend a FREE 2 ½ hour Living Healthy Workshop held
each Thursday for six weeks and get the support you need.
Each participant will receive a detailed health education
book. Trained leaders with health conditions themselves
lead this program developed by Stanford University’s
Patient Education Research Center.
You will find practical ways to deal with pain and fatigue and discover better nutrition and
exercise choices. We will help you understand new treatment options and learn how to better
communicate with your doctor and family about your health. You will set your own goals and
make a step-by-step plan to improve your health and your life. Please call the Mill Race Center

Matter of Balance Class
We invite you to attend our FREE two hour Matter of Balance Class held each Thursday for
eight weeks. Anyone with the following concerns or interest should attend.

Has fallen in the past
Has restricted activity due to fall concerns
This award winning program will help you make changes to reduce fall risks at home. The
program includes exercise to increase strength and balance. We will help you understand that
falls are controllable and we will set goals for increasing your activity throughout the program.

Brain Health Class - Maximize Your Brain Fitness
Have you been told that there is a mental decline after age 50? Have you ever wondered what
you can do to maximize your brain health?
If the answer is yes, plan to attend our FREE Brain Health Classes to learn what you can do to
maximize your brain’s fitness.
A series of introductory classes will be held at the new Mill Race Center. Each series will consist
of a one hour class each week for a total of four weeks. This is a great way to enjoy learning and
maximizing your brain health in a group setting.
