This handsome facility will provide a variety of programs during the week as well as many of our traditional Wellness classes. We will continue to offer Wellness classes at Donner Center, Cummins (COB) and our Marr Road Rehabilitation Center. Through the generous donation of a grant from the Columbus Regional Hospital Foundation, we are able to provide the following services at this new location. Fitness Facility The Wellness Center includes an innovative fitness facility with internationally top rated, age-friendly cardio and strength equipment that will make your workout more effective and fun. Our fitness facility will accommodate everyone from beginner to advanced level participants for an effective workout that feels great on equipment that is easy to use. Certified fitness instructors will work with members to develop a fitness plan based upon goals and a personal fitness evaluation. Exercise and Education In this new expanded space we will offer many of our current Wellness exercise classes as well as group health education, health screenings, support groups and more! Physical and Occupational Therapy We are now offering physical and occupational therapy at an additional location in our Wellness Center. Our experienced team of physical and occupational therapists are available to treat your injury or illness and get you back on your feet and living your life to the fullest. Our treadmills, recumbent bikes and elliptical trainers are equipped with touch screen easy-to-use TVs. Just bring your headphones, iPod or iPhone and enjoy your favorite television shows or videos. With these added entertainment options, workouts are more enjoyable than ever. Strength Training Equipment The most comfortable strength training equipment can be found throughout our Fitness Facility. This nationally top rated, age-friendly equipment offers a total strength solution that will inspire you to achieve your fitness goals. The natural, comfortable motions of the machines provide effective workouts that feel great. Free Fitness Testing Maintaining adequate strength, flexibility and endurance are critical whether your interests are playing golf, gardening or performing simple everyday tasks such as climbing stairs or getting out of a chair or bathtub without assistance. Certified Fitness Instructors from Columbus Regional Hospital’s Wellness Center are providing a FREE individual fitness test involving common activities such as getting up from a chair, walking, lifting, bending and stretching. The fitness test was developed by the LifeSpan Project conducted at California State University and meets scientific standards for reliability and validity. Your fitness test results will help you understand how you compare to others of your age and gender along with what is needed to maintain good mobility. A Certified Fitness Instructor will work with you on setting goals and planning an effective program to help you improve your physical condition. Participants can take the class seated or standing. The exercises focus on four key areas that are important to the health and fitness of active adults: stretching and flexibility; low impact exercise; strength training; and balance. Exercises are modified to meet the varying abilities of participants by Certified Fitness Instructors. Your progress is tracked as you increase your strength and activity level. The Enhanced Fitness Class is FREE and only available with a Fitness Facility membership. SilverSneakers® SilverSneakers® Fitness Program is a fun, energizing wellness program that helps older adults take greater control of their health by encouraging physical activity. Unlock the door to greater independence and a healthier life. This award-winning program is offered at our new Wellness Center for those who are eligible for Medicare or to group retirees. This program is FREE and only available to SilverSneakers® members.
