CHAIR’S MESSAGE
Welcome to the 64th Annual Crop Pest
Management Short Course and the MCPR
Trade Show. You will find exceptional
programming offered by the University
of Minnesota Extension and the best of
its kind Trade Show in the Midwest. We
have developed a great combination of
emerging information and programs that focus on industry issues
and needs. Be sure to take some time to visit the exhibitors on the
Trade Show floor. I know they look forward to talking with those
attending the show and being able to discuss their products and
services in a face-to-face setting. I’m sure you will find spending
time discussing agricultural issues, developments and demands
with others who understand the challenges we currently face in
production agriculture productive. Most of all, this event is about
renewing friendships, developing new relationships, and celebrating
another great year in Minnesota Agriculture. Without the support of
all those who attend we wouldn’t be able to produce a meeting of this
magnitude.

The issues facing crop production are complex
and require sound research and education
to inform good decisions. The University of
Minnesota Extension Crop Pest Management
(CPM) Short Course and the Minnesota Crop
Production Retailers (MCPR) Trade Show
are designed to educate and inform the key
crop production decision-makers with quality
research-based education. The joint MCPR
and U of M Extension program is now in its
ninth year and offers agricultural professionals many educational
opportunities and ample time for interaction with others. I hope you
enjoy and learn from the 2014 CPM Short Course and MCPR Trade
Show.

Technical Service Provider Training
This training is to provide Minnesota’s Technical Service Providers
(TSPs) with the latest information from the United States
Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation
Service (USDA-NRCS). The session will focus on Soil Health in
Minnesota and how you can help producers implement soil health
practices. We will update TSPs on Conservation Activity Plans
(CAP) development process and procedures for 2015. There will
also be an update on what conservation practices are available
through federal programs to assist producers. This session will
furthermore provide an opportunity to learn more about the TSP
recertification process.
