Family Recovery Malachi 4:6 “And he will turn the heart of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers..” NKJV Relationships can make or break a person in recovery. That is why Waypoint Center provides one more component to its program: Family Recovery. As families undergo this intense training, they begin to unfold the underlying causes of addiction and break the cycle for generations to come. Family Recovery is a vital part of our ministry. The families of the men in the program are encouraged to participate in discussion groups and Biblical counseling sessions every weekend where each family member receives guidance and spiritual instruction in the rebuilding of family life. Addiction is a disease that has many casualties. It spreads and harms many of those in our lives. This makes healing and forgiveness with loved ones imperative. Waypoint provides a place to manifest healing and move forward in the rebuilding of family relationships. Each family member must attend Family Recovery meetings in order to be allowed visitation. There is a thirty-day detachment period during which no visitation is permitted. During the 30 days, family members are highly encouraged to attend Family Recovery Classes but may not visit until approved by the Program Director. Please call our office for more information on attending Family Recovery Classes. ...is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation that is funded by a Christian retreat center called “Waypoint Inn & Retreat Center”, a wholesale & retail greenhouse business, a thrift store, auto donation program, and through private contributions from churches and individuals. The Waypoint Program Admissions & Finances Waypoint Center is a Christ-Centered drug & alcohol recovery program located in Dahlonega, Georgia. Our 12-month, longterm process of recovery is open to adult males ages 18 and up. The purpose of our program is to provide an opportunity for the men in the program to learn to take responsibility for their own recovery and adopt a whole lifestyle change. We minister healing and restoration to men caught in addictions by using biblical counseling, teaching, small groups and work programs. The Waypoint program requires a 12-month commitment. The first stage begins with Orientation. During this time, the man will begin to develop his relationship with the Lord and gain an understanding of the Waypoint program. During Orientation the man writes a personal contract stating specific achievable goals he intends to attain during the remainder of the program. The single most important factor for admittance into Waypoint’s program is a man’s attitude. Each incoming applicant is interviewed to see if he has a sincere desire to find spiritual help. We have found that we cannot help a man until he is ready to let God help him. Waypoint’s mission is to minister to the whole person, body, soul, and spirit, by fostering an environment in which the healing power of the Holy Spirit brings reconciliation with God, true self, and others. We truly believe that the only way to break the cycle of addiction in a life, a family, and a community is through the miracle working power of Jesus Christ and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Waypoint Center is a non-profit ministry based on the Biblical teachings of Jesus Christ. The second stage of the program is called Regeneration. In Regeneration Biblical counseling, classroom teaching, and small groups are methods used to address the spiritual, mental, and physical issues associated with addiction. The next phase of the program is called Inner Healing where the man learns that forgiveness is the key to spiritual maturity and that the cross is the focal point for all forgiveness. After Inner Healing the man enters Discipleship Training where he learns to take his focus off his addiction and who he used to be, and learns to walk in the truth of who God says he is. Throughout the 12 months each man is assigned to a work task for approximately five hours each day according to his physical ability and skills. The purpose of this aspect of the program is to learn good work ethics and apply relational and job skills in a Christ-Centered environment. New Start is the last phase of the 12-month program, and is required for graduation. New Start is a time to establish boundaries as a man is transitioning from living in a program to starting a new life outside of the program. During this period of time we train men to write a resume, interview for a job, and balance a checkbook. The man will be employed outside of Waypoint Center and be allowed to plan his own schedule for the first time during his program. A church home, outside meetings, accountability partners, and daily planning are all requirements of New Start. This is the most critical time to be “plugged-in” to a healthy environment. Our program is 12 months long and always filled to capacity. Because of this, we have established requirements that must be met prior to consideration for admission. The admissions requirements may be obtained through our program office and are also listed on our web site. The cost for the 12-month program is $5,375. There is also a $429 application and processing fee due before or upon arrival to the intake interview. The transitional New Start phase of the program is $125 per week. We look at every intake applicant individually. Payment and financial arrangements will be discussed with the Program Director during the admissions interview.
