Course Description:
This course studies the basic principles of financial management for business as well as the
responsibilities of financial managers in order that they can perform their best to maximize the
enterprise value. Discussions will covers financial analysis, cash flow analysis, financial planning and
control, fundamental analysis on risk and return, time value of money, current asset management,
fixed assets investments, allocation and acquisition of funds, short-term and long-term financing,
and costs of financing.
Course Objectives:
1. To enable students to understand the framework, role, and function of the financial department
of businesses; goal and importance of financial management; and introductory business finance.
2. To equip students with analytical and problem-solving skills to solve basic cases in financial
management in the real world.
3. To provide students fundamental financial management backgrounds for advanced finance
courses.
4. To provide students financial knowledge suffices for any business related functions.

Course Administration:
1. Students must act with integrity, competence, diligence, respect, and in an ethical manner.
Students must admire 3 highest institutions of Thailand; (1) Nation (2) Religion and (3) King.
Students must uphold all the law, rules and regulations at all time.
2. Students are highly recommended to practise the knowledge gained from both the classes and
your readings through questions and exercises in the required text and additional handouts.
3. All students are required to submit their homework and/or assignment with lecturer before class
starts on the designated date.
4. A student with academic (finance) difficulty is recommended to contact the instructor for advice
in order for he/she to be able to follow up the contents in the subsequent classes.
5. Students with inappropriate manner shall not be allowed to attend the class. Course schedule in
this syllabus is meant to be tentative course schedule only.
6. Class time and venue are subjected to change due to certain circumstances.
7. Student with inappropriate manner in the class, including but not limited to, talking in class,
using mobile phone in class, after his/her scores are collected, total score will be adjusted down
to reflect his/her inappropriate manner(s). The instructor has the right to assign behavioural
adjustment without any notice to the assigned student. (Please refer to grading section.)
8. Rules and regulations of the Thammasat University and the BBA International Program are
applied during the course. Any disagreement between those rules and regulations, and FN 201
course administration, the one that is more rigorous shall overrule.

Course Outline
Examination Administration:
1. All quizzes and examinations shall not be made up under any
circumstances.
2. A financial calculator allowed during the examinations are
 Simple function calculators and/or
 Financial calculator, Texas Instrument, BA II Plus.
 Maximum of 2 calculators allowed in the examination
room.
No scientific calculators allowed.
3. All examinations are closed-book examination; however, each
student is allowed to bring the following:
 One A4 written on one-side only for Mid-Term I Examination
 One A4 or two A4s written one-side each for Mid-term II Examination
 One A4 or two A4s written one-side each for Final Examination
All A4 must be one piece, no cut and paste allowed.
4. All examinations shall include ethical questions responding to the Course Administration
requirement #1.
5. Any attempt of dishonesty and/or dishonesty during examinations will result in immediate “F”
grade for the course prior to further punishments from the BBA International Program and
Thammasat University. Ruling from the examination proctor shall be considered absolute.

Important Notes to Students Regarding Class Attendance
Announced by BBA International Program:
a. Students who miss more than 13 hours of class but less than 22 hours must seek instructor’s
approval for eligibility to take the final exams and approval by the dean. The dean’s decision is
considered final.
b. Students who miss more than 22 hours of class are NOT eligible to take the final exams and
results in course failure.
Please note that feigning other student signatures or failure to attend class after signing in results
different level of penalty imposed.
o Level 1 penalty: First time rule breakers will be considered as “Absent” for that actual class
time. And a warning letter issued to first-time rule breakers.
o Level 2 penalty: Second time rule breakers receive an “F” for the course and will not be
considered for BBA scholarships, exchange student programs and other awards.
o Level 3 penalty: Third-time rule breakers are given one semester of class suspension.
Cheating in any form of class exam or quiz or plagiarism is subject to the penalties based on
Thammasat University’s student compliance act.
